I think the Hurricanes play in Charlotte, so yes they have 3.

    Edit: They play in Raleigh

Las Vegas - A baseball team would have horrible attendance there. It's too hot as well. They already have a major team coming and I believe theyre smaller than us. Plus not sure baseball wants to dip it's toe there just yet.

Charlotte & Indy - Multiple major sports franchises and are no bigger than us.

Plus, I assume were growing faster than any other city except Vegas.. The only city that could/should rival is Montreal.

A Vegas team would 100% have an indoor ballpark, so weather probably isn’t a factor.

Baseball would be a hit here. Portland's a sports city, and they take pride in anything that represents them. The weather here combined with a beautiful stadium, would make for a great turnout.

We have a bigger metro area than people think. We could get 30K consistently. I'd consistently go to games and I'm not even a fan of the sport.

Fun fact, Raleigh to Charlotte is about the same distance as Portland to Seattle.

Forget about the Rays. council is about to vote for a new stadium in Ybor City, just off downtown. property is purchased. instead of being at the bottom of St. Pete, they'll be right in the middle of everything.

If I'm not mistaken, Portland is the largest market in the US to NOT have multiple professional teams. Talking "Big 4".

If they’re like Seahawks fans, it won’t take any time at all.

Still, Raleigh isn't some independent sports market. Its too small Raleigh and Charlotte still group into one. Portland and Seattle are two seperate, thriving, top 25 cities in the US and aren't even in the same state. It's different.

Even then, Charlotte still has the NBA and NFL. We only have the NBA.

What is the traffic infrastructure like in Indy, San Antonio, et al? Because Portland's is horrible, and an MLB team will only make it worse.

I was on the crew that built the Safeco roof. Bad design and constant problems. But yeah this stadium would need a retractable for sure IMO.

I'd become a Portland fan (baseball) in an instant. I love that the schedule, for the most part, wouldn't overlap with the Blazers and it would give me something to follow in the summer months. Also, summer's in Portland are undefeated.

I think your right and that would probably kill any possibility. Unless they do something new different, and weird here...

If there is private money backing it, and they can profit, its a done deal!
