I'm sure what I'm about to post is considered mansplaining... But it could also be another way to look at it. Maybe when Rob Conner got up to accept his award. He didn't want one persons idiotic statements to ruin the evening for those who worked hard for what they earned that night. It was an award ceremony. Instead of focusing on the lone idiot in the room. Perhaps Rob Conner wanted to focus on the student athletes and their achievements... Rather than repeat what was already said. But hey I'm a man, therefore I'm a rapist. Edit - I don't know how this specific ceremony works, but if there was a speech submitted BEFORE hand. And the admins still approved it. Then heads should roll. Otherwise once it's been said, turn the attention back on the student athletes which deserve to have their accomplishments honored. Don't let one person in the room ruin their day.
Well the way it works from what I have learned over the years that if you don’t address it right then and there then you become all of those things and condone everything said because logic. I agree with you though
This reminds me of a video posted a couple months ago about a military general completely condemning sexism or racism or whatever it was. I watched the video and agreed with it completely. I believed he covered and said everything which needed to be said. To say anything else would've been nonsense. However someone posted in the topic when the topic didn't get many replies. 'What no responses from this forum?' I quoted said poster saying. The general covered everything which needed to be said. That I couldn't have said it better myself. Why do I need to reiterate his words?
As a coach, former faculty rep for SAAC and former-student member of SAAC, this is disappointing. This guy is an idiot and as has been mentioned this wasn't the right venue for this. Don't really care if he was "trying to do a Jimmy Kimmel impersonation" or whatever, that type of a night is supposed to be a means of celebrating efforts, achievements and camaraderie within athletics and his intention was to try and draw attention to himself. Don't really see how you can defend someone trying to brag about sexual exploits (even if it is a normal aspect of college) at a formal(ish) night that's supposed to be about athletics.

I’m not defending him. I don’t think it’s the stage for those jokes. As I said the only reason he’s a moron is because he tried these jokes at this venue at the university of Portland. However I believe if we had video of the monologue and his tone, it would probably be apparent he was trying to tell dumb jokes. I don’t find those jokes funny but they are jokes. Nothing was violent about it and if these are the things in life this student shakes over and considers violent and violating, she’s gonna have a hard time in life.
