Yeah, and they're all taking jobs that I want such as dishwasher, roofer, concrete worker, short order cook, waitress, lawn and garden maintenance, carpet installer, dry wall installer, house painter. I'm ready to put down my slide rule and take a massive pay cut to do those jobs, dammit. Now, if we could only find a politician who'd see the obvious logic in that.

They're actually all students at OIT; the white folk are the janitors already.

I worked with an electrical engineer from OIT at Tektronix. The kid was really good. Went from technician to engineer in one fell swoop (whatever that means).

Had a software class with another guy from OIT. Dumbest shit head in that class. I was the team leader on a project and he was assigned to my team. Had to put him over in a corner 'cause he continually made suggestions that were off track and not helpful at all.

I guess, there's good ones and bad ones in every group.

My parents both graduated from OIT; lots of interesting stories there!

Say wha....?? You must have been living out of state during the Maverick’s tenure. They produced more feel good (and colorful) stories in their short few years than the Beavers did in all their years. They actually “belonged” to Portland, not only physically but in spirit also. A Portland MLB team should be honored to be called the Mavericks......though the Hipsters also works for me.....

The Beavers played AAA ball and sent many players on to the big leagues. I probably was out of state during part of the tenure of the Mavericks.

Saying a Portland MLB team ought to be called the Mavericks is akin to saying a Portland NHL team ought to be called the Winterhawks and not the Buckaroos.

I like Portland Swifts for a team name. Named after the Vaux's Swifts that roost in the Chapman School chimney every fall.

Here's your logo. Just simplify it and do a little graphic design, and we would be set. 1954_Sibl_9780307957900_art_r1.jpg

    Oregon Loggers

It’s the best name. As long as there isn’t an Owls MLB team...

Or we could be the Oregon Lagers...

Have you ever seen that? Impressive.

I went to grade school there. Even though we occasionally used that incinerator, I believe we shut it down during the swallow season. You'll pardon me if my memory is fuzzy, after all some in here think that part of my past was in the Jurassic period.

Edit: Oops, make that swifts not swallows.

I go watch it every year. I think it would be pretty cool to name the team after that. It would fit baseball as well.

One of the locations they're looking at -- the original name for this location/concept was the Winter Garden:

I’m assuming from this pic, it’s at the PPS building.
