Both of your trade proposals are ridiculous and I wouldn't trade Dame for anybody. ANYBODY. Even Lebron if it was even possible. I wouldn't. Honestly

Other than the obvious "we can't trade Dame", I do have a couple concerns. If you trade Dame in the scenario, who would be the team leader? Nobody jumps out to me. CJ wouldn't work and Leonard isn't that type of player. I could see a turf war between CJ and Leonard, with neither one qualified. You would probably need a stronger coach than Stotts to manage it.

You would also need to make another trade to figure out who was going to run the offense.

I think the only player I would trade Dame for is Giannis. LeBron is amazing but he is getting up there in age. I could see his body start breaking down in about 2-3 years (he does take amazing care of it though at this point). Harden is better but I can't stand the guy and wouldn't want to root for him. Davis is still too injury prone. Durant I guess might be the other guy I would trade Dame for. Everyone else is at Dames level or lower imo and would be a side-ways trade at best. When you take into account what he has done for the city, Dame is going no-where.

I would trade Dame for Simmons in a heartbeat, but Philly would laugh.

It would take a crazy good deal for me to trade Dame. His intangibles are simply too great. Chances are, no team is going to give Portland what I hope the Blazers would want in return, so I simply don't see it happening. Everyone else is open for discussion.

No Way. He's family. Stayed when others left. He had a bad scoring streak during the playoffs. He's human.

You don't trade the guy who finally put Portland on the map....he's the face of the Blazers period...will become the greatest in franchise history...to even think about trading Dame is beyond comprehension in my view. Talent is out there but talent with leadership and accountability is a rare thing to have.

You think Simmons has surpassed Lillard?

Long term, yes, I think he'll be a much better player..... but currently? Come on.

I love the guy but that does not say much about the franchise.

If trading Lillard happened this is the type of deal that would be the most realistic but the problem is they have the #9 pick this year which isn't high enough to warrant trading Lillard and they are probably a playoff team in the future with Lillard and Porzingis so the future picks wouldn't be worth much either. Plus the jury is still out on Frank. I would rather just keep Lillard in this scenario.

Since I wouldn't trade Lillard I am certainly not going to trade him for someone who could leave after one season and who didn't play all year despite being medically cleared to do so.

Yes, and it isn't even close. We each get our opinion. Simmons would be my #1 or tied with AD. He makes his teammates better, is a stellar defender and is pretty much unstoppable. The only thing he doesn't do as well as Dame is shoot the three. He is much better at everything else.

I don't think he's peaked at all...his defense took a big leap forward just this season alone.

Dame to Simmons (admittedly cherry picked)

    eFG 52 v 55
    asst 6.6 v 8.2
    Reb 4.5 v 8.1
    stl 1.1 v 1.7
    DRTG 109 v 102
    dWS 2.7 v 5.0

one on one Dame is a better offensive scorer, but Simmons is better across the board on defense and is a better offensive team member. Dame does make those around him better, but Simmons game is more team oriented.

I would also have you notice the playoff VORP and BPM on the bottom of the linked charts to compare them in the playoffs.

Sorry man but after that first line, I couldn't read anymore.

I do have to ask though, what have those triple dubs amounted to for OKC, who has two better players around him than we have on our roster aside from Dame?

They are asked to do different things, and Philly has significantly more talent surrounding Simmons. Our team is a joke without Lillard, as proven by the fact that New Orleans' entire strategy was to take Lillard out of the equation and we got swept. I suspect that if we played Miami, Dame's playoff numbers would be much much better as well.

Look at this shit - in the postseason the Sixers have very nearly seven guys averaging double figures. If Fultz ever puts it all together, that team is going to be fucking stacked.

    Redick - 20 ppg
    Embiid - 18.7 ppg
    Simmons - 18.2 ppg
    Belinelli - 16.6 ppg
    Saric - 16.6 ppg
    Ilyasova - 10.8 ppg
    Covington - 9.4 ppg

    Compare that to Portland

    CJ - 25.3 ppg
    Dame - 18.5 ppg
    Aminu - 17.3 ppg
    Nurk - 11.8 ppg
    Turner 9.3 ppg

Our team sucks. If you put Simmons on this team, what would he average? Or worse, if you put him on the Kings? I think the guy is talented, but Dame very well might be first team All-NBA this year. Simmons is not.

You may be right about the suckage, but if you put Simmons on our team (Baldwin, CJ, Simmons, Aminu, Nurkic/Collins), I am certain of two things. First, for better or worse, the scoring would naturally spread out more to the other players. Second, the defense NO employed against Dame would not have worked as well against Simmons as the primary ball handler.

For me it boils down to Stotts and his offense. I would like to see Dame become more of a distributor, and I know he's capable of it. He has built our entire offense around Dame and CJ jacking up shots. That needs to end. But the talent level on Philly compared to our team is still pretty unbalanced.

Hopefully new coaching will optimize the talents of the team better than last year. I am just stilled confused as to why Stotts flow offense, that used to look so fluid, has turned into one-dimensional iso-ball.
