You mean other teams will offer him a lot just so Meyers becomes our starting center?

    Brutal!

Something like this. It will be a back end deal.

You can. You just have to do whar Miami and GSW did...have a group of stars take less money in exchange for an easy ring.

I don't think that's buying a superstar team though. That's superstars making it work under the regulations.

My point is there are more factors that go into account than the depth of an owners bank account. Your post is actually proving my point. :)

He's a better player, with more porential, than Mason Plumlee. He will get a significantly larger contract with Safeties written in to protect the Blazers.

Agree. The potential for Nurk to succeed is too high to let him go. It would be a major mistake.

ok, but agree or disagree that Plumlee was over paid as a back up center? I figured Plumlee should have been in the 10 mil range. $14=15mil would be realistic and if he wants more, then do a 3 year contract with a player option. We would retain bird rights and Nurk can then earn a bigger contract. There are very few teams that will have the money to pay Nurkic more money so we do have a slight edge in position of power.

It's not even a question. Olshey and Paul Allen ain't letting him go for nothing. Even if it's 25 mil a year. It's the nature of the business.

    4/60 would be great.

But if we have to give him $20 mill per season than the 4yr should be a team option.

Also for $20 mill per season Nurk's dad needs to take Meyers out deep sea fishing.

Maybe a 2/3 year 36/52 million with an option.
Then he can hit his home run contract if he excels. If he wants the 3 year he takes a little less.

I’d hope there were some good incentive bonuses in his contract, he is the type of guy that needs something to keep him motivated.

I want Nurk to get just enough to be happy and just little enough to be hungry for more on his next contract. That much.

If Nurk doesn't get the offer he thinks he deserves, he can just play out the year and be an unrestricted FA, correct? Take his chances next summer when there should be more FA money out there, at least more than this year.
