How do we know Olshey wouldn't trade CJ? Because he said it to the press? That means nothing. I wouldn't over react to any public claims made by Neil Olshey. Or even react.

That seems to be the norm in here as some hang on every letter, every sentence word and every sentence that Olshey says to the public. What GM's and coaches say in public is often very different than what they are actually thinking. Sometimes when teams say they won't trade so and so, it's done to get the message out there that you better come with a hell of an offer.

IIRC, didn't Olshey once trade Eric Gordon within days of personally telling him he would not?

Yes, after trading Marcus Camby hours after telling him he was essential to the franchise... traded him while he was in Portland on a sponser's trip!

So there, we have actual proof that even when he was GM for the Clippers he was trying to help the Blazers. :devilwink:

The Trade bot also thinks trading Meyers Leonard will tank our season, because it uses raw PER without weighting it for minutes played.

Yeah, I never paid any attention to the projected win gain or loss total as it really isn't very accurate.

    Who's our Klay Thompson?

Exactly. He doesn't exist. This is why you don't trade CJ.

The way @BonesJones and @hoopsjock talk about him, seems like they think Mikal Bridges could be. If a CJ trade nets him in return, do you reconsider your position?

No. I wasn't impressed by him. I'd draft him but wouldn't trade CJ to do it.

I actually think Mikal Bridges would be better on the current roster with CJ than as a CJ replacement. That is why a CJ trade and the TPE should be used to not only get Bridges but to bring in another decent wing too.

Lillard is our Klay Thompson. That's not the problem. The problem is we don't have a Steph Curry.

The people doing the podcast don't say that they believe this because Olshey said it.

Lillard is not our Klay Thompson. CJ is our Monte Ellis.

    Hmmmm.

And, Bridges' current mock position could line him up with Cleveland or NY, both of whom I could see coveting CJ. Not sure how the Cavs see Love right now, but CJ for Love and Bridges could be nice.

If he falls to NY, you might be able to get Ntilikina and Bridges and more if you take back Noah. That would be some prime defensive talent a few years from now.

I am completely pro Trade CJ. And I like CJ. But the small back court that isn't very good defensively wont work to get to next level and CJ is too valuable of a trade chip. Need a bigger guard back who defends. I could also see moving Damian to the 2 and letting him be a Donovan Mitchell role. Let Dame be the scorer he can be and let someone play point and defend the other team's best guard. Like an Avery Bradley type role (although he isn't big either)
