OT New NFL Kneeling Rule

Quick story:

I'm taking my son to school and we stop at Starbucks. We have a 20 or so minutes to sit, eat, and talk about the logistics of the day.

We're just sitting there talking and my son asks me "What's wrong Pop? Are you alright?". I said "yeah why?", fighting the anxiety I'm suddenly showing outwardly.

My son looked at me with a bewildered look that I'd never seen before. Rarely is he confused.

"You looked worried and scared. I've never seen you look like that before Pop."

I was having a PTSD reaction from the police that just entered the Starbucks.

Even though I'm an honest, hard working, tax paying, responsible, productive citizen, I felt nervous and began to sweating at their very presence.

I haven't done anything wrong but feel like we should leave soon. There's literally a lump growing in my throat.

Realizing my son has never seen me look afraid I thought I'd use it as a teaching moment.

"Did I do anything wrong son?."

"No papa."

"Do you think it's fair that I should have to feel scared and nervous even though I'm innocent of any wrongdoing?" "no papa".

"You're right son. I shouldn't."

 

You should have. I love to.

 

Clog dancing? I've seen stranger and this is America.

I once rode on a commercial airplane flight with the mayor of Rajneeshpuram. It's gonna take some doing to top that. You've never seen a stranger dude.

 

I don’t like that you had to feel that way, and I really want things to change for the better... I just don’t believe something that gets so many people upset is going to make people work together to solve the problem... half the country won’t even listen if that’s the approach... there are better ways for athletes to use there power than doing something that upsets half of the population

 

Yes, Lanny risking his life for the freedom and opportunity my family has been given is enough to command my respect... it’s more important than my ego in a stupid sports forum argument... and I’ll buy him a drink if I ever see him

One thing I've learned in church is that everyone trespasses. Lord knows, I've done it too many times, myself. I've trespassed more than most in here, and I'm sure of that.

Forgiveness for each and everyone of us is not only very important but uplifting as well.

One bad thing I've never done, I've never gone back on my word. It's a long held family tradition on both sides of my family and I'm not going to break that tradition.

My nephew was on the CC team that kneeled all last season. I'm proud of him for taking a stand.

 

It only gets them upset because they don't want to listen to stories like mine. I wrote a whole song about it.

 

This reminds me of an African-American friend of mine, who's now deceased. I had always thought that things were terrifically better than they were when I was a kid. I asked him and he told me how he and his wife often got stopped for virtually no reason at all. Then, my Asian wife had a bad experience in a couple of restaurants and one lady on a bus even took issue with her speaking her native language to her sister. These incidents opened my eyes to the fact that there's still a-holes out there and the fight is not over. In fact, I think it's bad enough to declare it our no. 1 priority.

People would probably be more open to listen if you didn’t stereotype and blame a whole population... it’s doing the same thing that you hate being done to your culture... always insulting republicans and saying they are all white and racist will never bring people to the table...

 

Nothing wrong with donuts. I love a good cake donut with a cup of coffee on some mornings. Sometimes I'd rather have that than my usual Spanish omlette or Swedish pancake or apple pancake or bacon egg over easy and hashbrowns or ham eggs and hashbrowns. Believe it or not my wife fixes me anything I want to eat. When I have to get up at 4 AM she gets up with me so I'll have a hot breakfast. Yeah, she's a keeper.

 

This is just not true. It's in no way true. People don't give a fuck. People come in here and say shit like:

"police only kill a little over 1000 people per year. It's not that big a problem"

and you know what???

FUCK THAT.

 

Did I say that?? All I said is I don’t think kneeling achieves the desired goal, and that it offends a lot of people... and you group all the people it offends as racist white people... I don’t understand why it’s so hard for millionaires to find another platform to discuss these issues that doesn’t piss off half the country so people will actually listen... what is so wrong about that?

 

So that's what it takes for you to be respectful towards someone... got it.
