Well I’d do that since 17 and 26 probably gets us somewhere into the lottery.

I think he's better at every single facet of the game other than long range shooting. Getting to the rack, drawing fouls, playing above the rim, excelling in the open court, defense (length, both CJ and him are bad at it though), and generally getting easy buckets.

Faried is an undersized Ed Davis with a slightly more well-rounded game. The only thing Davis has over Faried is a firm understanding of what his role is on the court (which is HUGELY important...but not so huge that he's all that important to our success).
I say this as someone who likes Ed - but also as someone who thinks he's pretty overrated by a lot of Blazers fans.

Huh. Well, to each their own. But CJ excels at scoring the ball in nearly every conceivable way, aside from drawing fouls. He has one of the league's best handles, and has a much better shot than DeRozan. Put him in a decent offensive system and he'd be even better. Shit, put him in a shitty system in the East and he'd be much better. Put DeRozan in Terry's system and he's gonna Evan Turner.

I don’t think he’s over rated, I see him as a very solid back up center, who can rebound, and be solid defensively. He has almost no offense to speak of. What part of that is over rating him?

You may not overrate him personally, but that doesn't mean he's not overrated by others. Many have said he deserves Meyers Leonard money, or that he should be a 6MOY candidate. These would be statements that overrate him.

I see you posted this last Friday, but my question is, do they have a pick they could throw in?

EDIT: Ok, nevermind. Should have kept reading ;)

    I'm so behind ;)

I agree with your assessment. But I think some people overrate his defense.
To me he is the anti-Aminu: Ed is very smart in knowing his limitations and playing to his strengths.

Ed Davis is the type of player that you don't realize his value until he is gone.

In that case, let him walk.
Personally I think we will overpay him (as in, we will just give him a nice contract offer rather than letting the market set his price), but still come in under Meyers' contract. I'll be shocked if another team offers him $9M.

Then he's apparently overrated by NBA GM's.

This team hasn't won a Playoff game in 2 years. Maybe they are all overrated.

I guess but 10m a year isn’t that outrageous for a rotation player in today’s market. I’d love to keep him around for 6-7m but I kind of don’t think that’ll be an option.

I’d be SHOCKED if Davis got anything more than the equivalent of the MLE. The teams with cap space for the most part are non playoff teams, they’re not going to spend their money on role players like Davis.

I fear Neil is going to "bid against himself" - otherwise, I agree.

Maybe we could send Aminu out and save our TPE?
    MIL Gets: #26, Aminu, Swanigan
    PHI Gets: Cash
    DEN Gets: #17, Bayless
    POR Gets: #14, Dellavedova, Faried*

Then we could use #14 and #24 to try to move up?

I think Neil values Aminu more than that.

Actually Lebron coming to pdx is the more of the unlikely scenarios but believe what you like. I would actually go as far to say it’s probabally the single most unlikely thing to happen in the offseason.
