I don’t root for the kid either, won’t get myself to do it. But he’s 1 of 20+ kids on the team so not rooting for the team because of one loser doesn’t make sense. Plus once you realize the university can’t kick him off the team without violating serious institutional and NCAA guidelines you can’t really hold it against them for letting him pitch. They have no choice. Trust me on this one.

The kid did everything he was legally required to do. I'm not even convinced he did anything as well.

They left it up to the team and the team didn’t want to punish 20 for the sake of 1.

Idc, it’s the principle of it. They can win without him.

I see it the way you do, if I had it my way he would be nothing more than a ball boy until he graduates. I’m just trying to shed light on why the university and AD made the decisions they did. I also feel for the other kids on the team.

The best thing to come out of this is OSU last summer became the second school in the P12 that made it possible for them to deny admittance or place an accepted enrollee on an academic probation of sorts for anyone that has a prior violent offense. This would obviously include sexual crimes.

Good people do bad things. So, it's not what we did that matters it's what kind of person we are now. Tell me you've never made a serious mistake when you were younger.

Do we know what kind of person he is now? Seems like a decent person, as near as I can tell.

Yes and I do, but I wasn’t alive the last time they won a championship, and I do remember the 2000 wcf way to well. I support them win or lose though.

Molesting a little girls doesn’t classify as a “mistake” to me. A mistake is something you can say, oops, after. I have no problems with the kid living his best life I just don’t think playing college baseball for one of the country’s best programs is a luxury he should be afforded.

You should read Kerry Eggers account of the situation.

Maybe I’m just sensitive because my daughter is 6, but you’re right it isn’t a mistake it’s a horrific crime.

I don’t think you’re being overly sensitive. I just think we see fandom override morality in a lot of cases and when that fandom isn’t there you’re able to look at the situation objectively. It’s the same reason you see a lot of Duck fans back Dana Altman without giving him the necessary blame for obviously hiding and lying about what he knew regarding the multiple instances of rape allegations of his players. It’s not a Beaver or Duck thing it’s just a fan thing. I’m a die hard Beav, always have been always will be, but I won’t throw away my moral compass because of it.
