Faried is a useful player, Bayless could be a decent backup PG, and both would be expiring contracts that could conceivably used in a future trade deadline deal. "Cap hell" isn't determined until April of next year--lots of time to reduce it prior to that point. Mikal Bridges would be the target at 10--a SF who would likely be able to contribute off the bench immediately and be a long-term starter alongside Collins going forward. Definitely worth the one year of Faried/Bayless' salary.
Sefalosha's non-guaranteed--they would effectively be shedding Faried's salary in its entirety for the price of moving down 7 spots.

So, reading between the valet parking lines: 1. They’re happy with the core players (Dame, CJ, and probably Nurk and Collins). They see that as the base for a team that makes the playoffs every year. 2. The Crabbe TPE will be used to bring in a solid rotation contributor. 3. The bench needs building with proven vets. The Vonleh TPE and MLE (or whatever it’s called these days) will be spent to bring in those players. Bye to Bazz and Pat.
You're right I'm not a fan of mediocre play. The last time this team went far was that era of the jail blazers. Getting bounced from the first round every year isn't exciting for me. I understand getting a culture was their goal but what has that gotten us? I'll wait, nothing. It's a different nba now then back then when having season tickets ment something to me. This team needs a a Rodman type on the court player. Until then my fandom of this team is a snooze fest.
Add Marvin Williams to this team while giving Nurk and Collins another year of seasoning and we'll be a much improved team. I mean, it doesn't put us in the title hunt, but that's a solid move.
Its Paul. I don't think the payroll total matters at all to him. He's not going to refuse to mange a good move because of salary. People need to stop acting like that's a barrier.
I think he is against paying the luxury tax for mediocrity, if NO convinces him a move could put them in the dreaded “conversation”, I think he would have no problem shelling out
