You don't harm the future to acquire someone like Courtney Lee. Meyers is irrelevant, we could acquire Lee without him in the deal. We could likely acquire him for cash. Therefore, moving down would be silly.

The indications Olshey has given are that he is attempting to bolster the team now, and that the pick and the TPE's are likely going to be used to acquire established veterans. Yes, Lee could likely be acquired for cash and the TPE, but I think the TPE is of significantly greater value to other teams than Meyers Leonard is. I don't think 12 spots is all that high a price to pay to turn a negative-value asset like Leonard into a positive-value one.

They really want to keep Barton, so I think they should be ready to deal.

Not convinced we will use the TPE's to go further into the tax, is anyone we get really a difference maker worth tens of millions? I say more snake oil from the salesman

Our starters need a major upgrade at both the 3 and the 4 actually. Aminu and Mo/Turner really are 6th man kind of guys.

Why would anyone want Faried at this point? Five years ago, yes, but not now.

It seems like it might be a good idea to use (as Bones has suggested) in a two part trade. Like take Jeremy Lin off the Nets hands with the TPE and then trade Turner for DeMarre Carroll. They might think Turner would be a better fit with their team.

    https://milehighsports.com/denvers-...ons-tim-connelly-could-use-stretch-provision/

Good article that explains Denver’s cap situation and why Faried/14 for the TPE is a realistic option.

Faried is the other player that could be stretched and waived. He is also the most interesting situation. Faried has $13,764,045 owed to him for the final year of his contract. If stretched, Faried’s cap hit against the Nuggets would be $4,588,015 each year for three years while also being waived allowing him to sign with another team. That would save Denver $9,176,030 in cap space this coming offseason, which — if the most expensive scenario plays out — would leave Denver just $1,318,165 into the luxury tax assuming that they draft a player in the first round. If Denver trades out of the first round entirely, the would be $1,551,118 under the luxury tax line.

Either option would help the Nuggets current financial landscape become more manageable. What really makes stretching and waiving a player so enticing is the potential to also use the 14th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft to trade the player who was not waived. If Arthur was stretched and Faried was packaged with the 14th pick, Denver could suddenly be $11,155,811 below the luxury tax line with money to spend. That would allow them to retain Barton and Craig as well as hold onto Chandler — who is an expiring contract — without going too far into the tax.

    Faried/14 for TPE.

Leonard and 24 for Lee and 36.

We move up into the lottery, get a veteran upgrade for the bench, pick up a second, and dump Meyers. Bang bang.

The deal has nothing to do with Faried from Portland’s perspective.

The interesting Part for me is, there was an article about nikola jokic and his agent told the Nuggets Front Office he want's his Max Contract this offseason. What makes it difficult for Denver because jokic is restricted free agent this Season and after the 18/19 Season he is Unrestricted free agent, jokic was a 2nd round pick in 2015 and that means he could leave Next year in free agency, Maybe that's a reason Why Denver want to dump faried's Contract so badly

The cost of an asset. No different than when Portland traded with Cleveland. You think they did that because they wanted Varajeo?

You want to waive and stretch yet another player?
