Surprisingly my wife who watches zero basketball during the season, enjoyed watching the NBA finals this year. Because she knows who LBJ and Steph are and likes watching them.

Not sure how this is any different from any other dynasty. I hated the Bulls with Jordan. I hated the Piston/Knicks style of basketball. I still watched.

Granted the Lakers/Celtics in the 80s are still the best, but it was also still also a foregone conclusion who would make it to the finals.

I hope you’re right. The rest of the NBA needs to do whatever it takes to break this players’ choice Super team crap before it destroys the league. If it’s just going to become 4 or 5 cities that are the basketball Meccas for the league’s primadonnas, what is the point for the rest of the league’s teams and their fans?

Another Boston trade that sort of makes sense for both sides:

Why do people keep saying the Lakers have a lot to offer?

Who do they have who looks like becoming an all-star? Ingram? I don't see it. Lonzo? Don't make me laugh. And they don't even have a high pick. Plus they have to unload Deng to clear cap space and they'll need to mortgage future picks for that.

Remember: Pop was INCENSED about the trade that sent Pau Gasol to the Lakers. I have a feeling he REALLY HATES the Lakers.

Given Kawhi's strange health issues and unlikelihood of staying in Portland, I wouldn't offer CJ. But I'd offer San Antonio the chance to unload a lot of bad salary and these players certainly fit their "culture". (Obviously throw in a pick or two and maybe even Zach, but only if Kawhi's health checks out.)

This "pre-agent" (aka a player making trade demands to particular destinations while still under contract) concept Bill Simmons is throwing around is really a thing (. Players seem to hold a lot of leverage the year before they're truly free agents because they can help dictate where they want to go. Wish Aldridge had done this in 2014 and we could have gotten something out of him.

But in recent history, CP/PG/Kyrie / Cousins and now Kawhi are all wielding a ton of power the year before they hit FA. Wonder if Jimmy Butler will jump into this ring.

I guess when fat guys can play baseball that makes it not a sport then.

It's CERTAINLY more exciting than that.

    Only baseball highlights are exciting.

The only thing more laughable than believing this trade could happen, is Hollinger's Analysis of what would happen if it did. The Blazers get one of the best 2-way players in the game, replace Ed with Pau and Shabazz with Patty and only win 1 more game. Hollinger hasn't worked for ESPN for over 5 and a half years. They need to update their trade analysis algorithm.

Kawhi ain't going to turn down a supermax deal. This is all just noise by his agent so the Spurs don't try to offer him less due to his injury.

He will be a Spur next season.

If Shams and Chris Haynes both say that Kawai wants to be traded then he most definitely will not be on the Spurs next season... they are two of the most reputable sources

This is where Neil’s decisions the past couple years come to bite us in the ass. Imagine if Neil played his cards right, the package we could offer San Antonio for kawhi. Can’t compete with what Boston would give up or even the lakers. This could easily be a super team situation with the lakers giving up their young guys for kawhi and then grabbing pg and Lebron. I honestly could see that and that sucks.

"League Sources" is code for Kawai's agent.

Doesn’t matter... damage is done when these guys report it as fact... I’ll bet any amount he will be traded

Kawhi ends up in Boston or LA but I’m gonna call that he ends up in LA with the super team of him, pg and Lebron. Lebron wants another ring. Kawhi hasn’t gotten one and neither has PG. it just makes sense

Also Shams and Haynes aren't sources, they're reporters. Reporters have sources but are not considered sources themself. If this is confusing, replace sources with sauces.

Okay, I will bet you a Jake and Coke that Kawhi will be on the Spurs next season.
