Holy shit I can't get it right lmao.

Cleveland 2020 Top 3 protected, unprotected in 2021
Cleveland 2022 Top 8 Protected, Top 6 Protected in 2023, Top 3 Protected in 2024, if not conveyed in 2024, Cleveland conveys their 2024 2nd round pick instead.
Does that work @hoopsjock ? Do you agree to this @BlazerDuckSeahawkFan94 ?

So I'm giving up a top-10 protected pick in 2019 for a top-8 protected pick 3 years later?

Also, because of the terms of the 2020 pick Cleveland can't trade their 2022 1st round pick unless it is worded different. I've mentioned this several times.

I didn't want Gronk Brady to get handed the Blazers simply because he complains about everything, and also because you said there would be a draw, because I don't think he'd be active, and because he only wanted one team so it wouldn't solve the problem of looking for people because people were getting two teams.

I wasn't going to trade Kawhi and go after LeBron AND PG, but Kawhi asked out. Without Kawhi, we're not competitive enough, and the best deal is this one. LaMarcus as our #1 doesn't work (and last year showed), so we're retooling. We're gonna have a solid core group with $50M-$60M in cap space.

Boston lowballed me and wouldn't budge. New York gave me a good offer but our team would've been worse next year because Porzingas isn't gonna play. Los Angeles gave me a good offer too, but it didn't involve lottery picks and I like the two picks better than the two solid prospects they offered.

I'll trade Cleveland an unprotected 2019 1st next year. My team is gonna be in the playoffs still.

There is no way you'd do that if you were their real GM but whatever.

I'm tired of it, and I want it done. You keep saying confusing stuff about protections not working.

Could you trade CLE their 2019 back and acquire their 2020 and I acquire their 2022? How could the protections work on that that would make it work?

Because IF you top 3 protect the 2020 pick that means it possibly doesn't convey until 2021. Therefore they wouldn't be allowed to trade their 2022 pick because that would violate the Stepien Rule. So the 2020 pick either needs to be unprotected for the 2022 pick or the 2022 pick needs to be worded in a way that it conveys 2 years after the 2020 one is conveyed.

You're the one trying to bring 47 future picks into this trade, it's gotta be by the book.

You know LMA as the #1 did get the spurs to the playoffs, w/o Kawhi. So trading Kawhi for the right pieces seems like it “could” work. Anywho this is very interesting to watch lol.

BTW, the Spurs aren't going to get much value for Kawhi because his camp announced he wants to be in LA and he has one year on his deal.

Aldridge could help a contender but he's getting up there in age.

    @hoopsjock This would work.

2019 CLE 1st back to CLE from ATL
2020 CLE 1st (Top 3 Protected) to ATL, if not conveyed, becomes a right to swap for ATL in 2021.
2022 CLE 1st (Top 7 Protected) to SAS, if not conveyed, become a right to swap for SAS in 2023.

No matter what, we're not going to beat Houston or Golden State.. So going young while remaining competitive and a playoff team while building towards the 2020s makes a ton of sense IMO.

We're not trying to contend for a championship now, because no matter what we do, we aren't able to. GS and HOU is stacked right now. So build towards the future while remaining a 5-8 seed in the west by using cap space to sign short-term veteran free agents that we could trade for more young pieces, picks, and cap space.. Rinse and repeat.

I get the 5th pick for Kawhi because @SwissBlazer is getting the 13th pick along with Aldridge so he's willing to give up #5. The 13th pick is coming from Utah, who is willing to give it up because he's getting Kevin Love from Cleveland, who's willing to give up Love because they're getting Kawhi, while I'm giving up Kawhi because I'm getting the picks I am. Atlanta is tossed in to make certain picks eligible for trade on Cleveland's part.

There's a reasoning to all of this, and while it looks like a mess, it's beautiful from the prospective of having negotiated it on all sides.. Haha.

LOL, good job! You make simple trades way unrealistic though!
