It is a senseless proposal. Since we all know, we have a God given right to bare arms, there is no legitimate reason to register my arms with the state. The state may assume I am armed, they have no logical reason to need to know more.

I doubt it would work like that. More like you could be charged with negligent homicide if your gun was used and the state could demonstrate that 1) you knew your gun was missing, and 2) you did not report it for 24h.

I haven’t read the law, but that’s my guess.

So it will be almost assured the Gun owner gets nailed but no particular help in finding the shooter.

No it is not. But it is one of the inalienable rights in the DoI and codified in the Bill of Rights.

Then report your gun has been stolen and you won't be liable for anything.

I had a gun stolen by a "friend" that was visiting. Did not realize the gun was missing for about a month (had it hidden and did not check it daily).

There are about 500,000 guns stolen every year in the USA.

Have a good friend that had several of his guns stolen from his home in Oregon, while he was spending the winter in Arizona. He did not find out until months later.

An x-girl friend of his knew how to get into his house and how to get into his guns. She had become a heron addict and sold the guns to feed her habit.

She went to jail for the the crime. The police did recover some of the guns, but only one was returned to my friend. The rest mysteriously disappeared from the police evidence locker.

If your guns we're locked up as required in that law then you are fine. If you leave on vacation with guns laying around your house then you really shouldn't be a gun owner.

I understand that....my contention is that even a locked up gun can be stolen..people can crack a safe..I'm all for gun safety legislation...I just see how this part of the proposal could be used against an innocent person who happens to have a gun that's stolen and they could be in a situation that discovery doesn't happen within 24hours...and be arrested for something they didn't do or contribute to. My example before was a law enforcement person confiscating a gun from your house in order to frame you...say you are a witness to a case against the police...for gun control to work it has to be a broad redefinition of gun ownership. It's a start but that clause in the law made me think of how it could be used to frame someone.

They need to add that you have to keep bullets that explode in your face in the guns when you're not using them. That way when a bad guy uses it they get hurt.

Sounds like you've identified a problem. Wouldn't it help to keep the guns locked up?

People can, but how many people really do? Most thieves are pretty lazy.

The article reports this news: A judge rejected a new ballot title and will keep the old title.

The article doesn't say what those titles are! Badly written.

    My assessment of this bill is, that it is intended to cause the gun owners grief when ever a weapon is stolen, used in a crime and recovered. It does nothing to help apprehend the thief. It does nothing to help catch the perpetrator of the crime. It does ease the burden of law enforcement to find someone to punish, the registered owner of the weapon. The liberals can feel good in two ways then;
Come down hard on a gun owner, is good for the cause.
No need to make life more difficult for some poor drug addict thief/ criminal, hounding him to the ends of the earth. Getting a fucking gun owner is good enough.

After all if we get rid of Guns the mission is accomplished. It does nothing for the cause to chase down poor unfortunate souls just doing what they must to get by.
