I’m pretty sure the Knicks wanted NYC native Hark. It’s just that Melo didn’t wanna expand his teams. They ended up with Kanter, McBuckets, and 2nd rounder.
And Kanter NY needed a center not a wing player. Kanter also had one less year. No way they were interested in Turner or Leonards longer contracts and like you mentioned it was irrelevant with Melo having a no trade clause.
They didn’t need a center lol they had Porzingis, O’Quinn, Hernangómez, and Noah. Im sure if they took Leonard they would’ve just ended up stretching his contract and getting him off the team.
Not sure why (other than 6'3" and skinny), but Simons reminds me a bit of young Steve Colter. Skinny guard with confidence. Simons is a better shooter though, and outweighs Colter by 15 lbs???
They didn't want high cost long term contracts and the bottom line is Melo didn't want to be here so no chance of a trade. Not sure why this is even an issue
I’m pretty sure Melo was about to expand us on his list, I think I read an article on that this past season. And what is “high cost” about stretching the final year of Meyers contract? That’s like 2mil a season for 5 years.
Why are we STILL talking about Carmelo Anthony? We totally dodged that bullet and I'm 100% glad OKC took it squarely between the eyes. Did no one watch him play last season? The guy was TERRIBLE. He put up a PER of 12.7, played ZERO defense and made $26 million (and is due another $27 million this coming season). We are SO lucky he chose OKC over us. BNM
Ok, 1) Carmelo played within a horrendous system headed by Westbrook. 2) Harkless and Turner had worse PER. 3) Melo would’ve been expiring for us after this coming season, saving us another year out of at least 2/3rds of the summer of 16 abortion. 4) We could’ve easily replaced Harkless’ 6 points and slightly above average defense with a rookie like Jacob Evans.
Lol, Harkless PER = 12.6, Melo PER = 12.7. Harkless plays very good defense (DBPM = 2.0), is 25 years old and makes $10 million. Melo plays ZERO defense (DBPM = -1.9) is 34 years old, is in RAPID decline and makes $27 million. He could be a grotesquely overpaid scorer off the bench, but refuses to come off the bench. No way in hell does that guy deserve to be playing 32 MPG for any team that has playoff aspirations. The guy is a prima donna whose play does not justify his attitude. No thanks! BNM
So, you prefer the way Carmelo "showed up" in the playoffs (PER = 9.7 on .375 FG% and .214 3FG%). The guy is beyond DONE, but hasn't admitted it to himself, yet. BNM
