Man you are trying to use your Black Privledge on this one and I can’t allow it. Peurto Ricans are part of my Latin family tree and I won’t let you try to put a claim on it!

CBA Rules were completely different back then and when he was with Portland was basically given a blank check as there was no cap and no repercussions for spending . We would have been in luxury tax hell for many years with Whitsit and he's responsible for the jail blazer era.

Jake has a year left on his deal...Pat is a free agent...Jake's been at all the workouts, Pat hasn't been around from what I've seen.

He was somewhat reckless in free agency, but at least he signed players to reasonable contracts for the times. He just acquired as much talent as possible and wasn't afraid to take on a balloon payment or two. I'd rather that than massively over-spending on mediocre talent to retain players.

    Interesting combine measurement comparisons

    Simons: w/o shoes 6'2.25"; 183 lbs; wing 6'9.25"; reach 8'3.5"
CJ McC: w/o shoes 6'2.25"; 197 lbs; wing 6'6.25"; reach 8'0.5" (pretty sure CJ was lighter as a freshman)

I say let Simons be our day 1 sixth man. Throw him into the fire and let him work his way out. He’s our only bench player who you could consider a scorer, may as well use him.

I completely get that..I also dont care how much PA spends on luxury tax..the roster is a mess and has been for several years. Letting the crap cake bake has been a disaster. I am ready for more than what our current squandered payroll https://www.blazersedge.com/2018/5/25/17392028/trail-blazers-salary-cap-2018-nba-free-agency has given us.

Time for new thinking, someone like Trader Bob to shake things up.

He signed a 3 year deal in 2016 with 2 years guaranteed but he's still under contract until he's not isn't he?

The 2000-01 POR payroll was $86,506,144. That was nearly 2.5x the salary cap of $35.5 million - with no luxury tax or other penalties.

Can you imagine the kind of talent Paul could buy today if he could spend with that kind of reckless abandon with no tax penalties? The current cap is $103 million. With $250 million to spend, we could have ~ 8 max players on the roster.

I'm still a fan of B-IV, especially on defense. The two of them might end up being a pretty good combo.

I'm sure they won't from Day 1, but I wouldn't be surprised for him to pull a Collins. He can already handle and shoot. He just needs a few months to get used to the speed of the NBA game. Once he does that I think he will be able to score and handle and possibly defend well enough-especially on super quick guards, which is our Achilles heel.

    Simons: w/o shoes 6'2.25"; 183 lbs; wing 6'9.25"; reach 8'3.5"
    Baldwin: w/o shoes 6'2.5"; 201 lbs; wing 6'11.25"; reach 8'4.0"

That is a nice pair of long arms with quickness.

Bringing on Rod Strickland for a second stint killed that team in my memory...

I must be falling into the sunny days of summer draft pick optimism trap, because I'm getting excited imagining a Dame/CJ/B-IV/L'il Penny back court.

No. No I don't have to give him shit. Adding Schrempf totally fucked the rotation and players were PISSED about it.
