Wait, you're the one who has said no to any Love trades before, right?

No thanks. Nance is middling talent and Love is on the downhill side of his career. I do want to trade CJ, but for a better defender.

An individual defender amongst a team of non-defenders is pretty useless. If you want a defensive team, you will have to make some major changes that this team doesn't have the assets to make. And please nobody tell me Harkless and Aminu are great defenders. I think people have a false belief that if a guy starts and has limited offense that he must be a good defender. Not the case.

Well there you have it. Harkless, Collins, Nurkic and Aminu are poor defenders. I guess their very low defensive FG% (do you know what that is?) are not due to good defense, but just random chance that opposing players just miss more on their own without any impact from those four. We must be a pretty lucky team to have ended up as a top 10 defensive team with no good defensive players. Amazing.

Turner, Swanigan, and a first for Aldridge and Danny Green (TPE)

I have such mixed feelings about that. Aldridge is certainly a stud, but I don't know that he fits into the Dame and CJ PnR offense well at all. Seems like he would stop ball movement so he could get his 12' jumpers.

We don't have much ball movement now. Last in the league in assists.

Done and done. Throw in Simons if they want him.

I can dream, can't I? Agreed we don't have much ball movement, but what we do have doesn't involve dumping it into the post and waiting. Not to mention the place I would most like LMA is in the post, which minimizes Nurk's value. IF for some reason we did get LMA, I'd rather keep Collins and move Nurk to clear up space.

We’d go back to the offense we had last time he was here. The only guy that would need to adjust his game would be CJ but fuck him. Nurk would play the Lopez role, just focus on what you’re best at.

This again is where I'd rather have Collins in the game. Inside out with Dame and Aldridge with Collins on the weak side spotting up for three or running back door. Two wings spotting up to keep the lane open.

We should know by now that Aldridge is at his best when playing next to a traditional center. Nurk would be even better than Lopez because of his passing ability. There wouldn’t be any clutter.

Aldridge's deal expires a year after Dame/CJ in 2021 when he's 35. Collins should be ready to take over then.

I think a lineup Dame/CJ/Danny Green/Aldridge/Nurk with Collins/Harkless/Baldwin off the bench is a better team than we fielded in 2015 when we had a legit shot before Wessy got hurt.

"Hey Pop. Got a deal I want to run by you. Shitty Evan Turner, wrong NBA era Caleb Swanigan and a first rounder likely in the 20s for your best player. Whatdya think?.......hey Pop, you there, youre cutting out...."

I don't know that you could do this without the inclusion of Collins...

Pop would want Collins if he traded LMA to us. Very tempting if it was ET and Meyers as well. (Something else back from SA)

But LMA is 33 years old, Zach will be 21 in November. That will hurt us in 2 years.

The funny thing about the narrative around Swanigan is that if he actually played to his potential, he’d be a lot more built for the “modern game” than everyone’s favorite, Ed Davis.

Turner is pretty much a contract that San Antonio would have to take back from anyone interested in Aldridge. And since he becomes an expiring after next season, it could work.

I'd rather talk CJ than Collins for exactly that reason.

Yeah but if you are getting a 33 year old PF to win now, getting rid of CJ does not help. Plus if SA is getting rid of a long PF they will want one in return....only younger. I honestly think ET and Zach is the fair trade. Just not sure I would do it.
