In terms of productivity, a 97 ORTG isn't priductive, and that's the output from his 2pt shots. So yes, he can only shoot 3s productively. He may look good on scoring plays, but if he was actually good on an NBA level, he'd have a better percentage from 2. It's simple logic. And for some reason, the trash Mavs don't even want him. But he should get minutes for a playoff team?

So the trash Knicks wanting to salary dump 33 year old Courtney Lee makes him good enough to get minutes on a playoff team, but 26 year old McDermott isn’t... contradict yourself much? There you go again with you cockamamie stats on small sample sizes as the end all be all for what a player can do... I was simply showing you a video that he moves well without the ball and can dribble and drive... had nothing to do with his game log

McDermott is actually pretty good off the ball. That’s a rep he’s had. I haven’t watched enough of him to talk about his defense but I’m assuming it’s not very good. But who cares? Wayne Ellington isn’t very good either. Lee is better but he’d be undersized as a SF. A consistent outside threat would make up for those deficiencies, especially when he’s got Nurkic/Collins/Aminu/Davis helping him out. Defense is more of a team thing than individual anyway.

We need a SF, but let's keep this within Olshey's abilities. Detlef Schremph was pretty good as Shawn Kemp's sidekick on a Finals team.

How can I contradict myself when talking about two completely different situations? You avoid context to try to prove a point and it's comical.

They don't want Courtney Lee because they're rebuilding, and because they already have a starting SG. Dallas is a rebuilding team with no bench and McDermott is young. Different situations.

McDermott is a decent finisher around the rim, but from 3ft all the way to the 3pt line, he's absolutely horrible. He's not a guy that can get to the rim well either. McDermott finished around the rim less than once per game in over 21 minutes per... But of course, that's factual evidence that goes against your argument, so somehow it wont count or something.

How are shooting percentages implausible? What the hell are you actually talking about? You have these pre-conceived notions that you're too stubborn to budge on, so when hard evidence and simple stats that accurately reflect production, you sit here and say that it's "cockamamie". Lmao.

So you don't think shooting percentages mean anything? Got it. I'll remind you of that from now on.

Theres many guys that can fill the 3-and-D role that could be available. Settling for a one-way player will keep us stuck in mediocrity.

To be fair Dallas isn’t really rebuilding. They’re going hard after DeAndre Jordan. Withdrawing McDermott was more about getting his cap hold off the books for an immediate move elsewhere. I read that they still have interest in bringing him back.

    For a minimum contract? Lol.

Doesn't detract from my point though. He's not good.

I just don’t see many other options realistically. Of course we all wish Doug M was able to defend. If he could defend and shoot like he does he wouldn’t be available

3 and D guys are pretty much the most valuable commodities in the league, they’re not out there, and if they are, we can’t afford them.

But if they sign a Center, they'll only have the room exception available. That's not much.

He can't play D. Slow twitch, no lateral movement, can't stay in front of his man.

There are 2 sides of the ball.

He had a half-decent year in San Antonio... BECAUSE IT'S SAN ANTONIO. He'd be as bad as Jamal Crawford.

Georges-Hunt looks possible. I'd really like to go for Dante Exum like we tried with Millsap and succeeded with Wes, but I think the Jazz will keep him.
Same for the Thunder and Jerami Grant - they were exponentially better when they had him on the court instead of Melo. But maybe they figure with Roberson coming back he'll get less time?

Somebody should really make a play for Julius Randle. The Lakers seemed very lukewarm about him, despite him being easily their most productive player.

Bonus: it would tie up their cap space until they renounced him.

Considering the contracts he handed out last time we had cap space, that might not be bad.
