    I don’t see any downside to holding onto Jake until end of July, except that we’re depending on Olshey to actually get a fucking god damn trade done meaning layman will probably end up staying on our god damn boring as shit roster.

    I don't really see why Layman can't be kept for the end of the bench with Simons. He's cheap and could still develop into a nice player if his jumper ever started falling consistently.

    Allow me to rephrase: I don't think the benefit of using the BAE outweighs the restrictions it would place upon us, even if Nurk took the QO.

    If Nurk really does take the QO (still not convinced he will), the Blazers basically have three routes:

    1) Go cheap and try to stay under the tax or at a point where they could get under the tax at the deadline (see the last two years)

    2) Use the BAE and Full-MLE and get hard capped but say goodbye to Davis and the TPE's

    3) Use the TPE's, the tax-MLE, re-sign Davis, basically go All-In because of the savings.

    The Portland Trail Blazers will not tender Pat Connaughton a qualifying offer, a league source told The Athletic. He will become an unrestricted free agent as a result.
