Some GMs use leaks to the media as a negotiating tool, it's not unreasonable to think that in the past when things have been leaked by those that Olshey was talking to that Olshey walks from the deal. NBA GMs are a very small fraternity. They know each other very well. Just because you aren't hearing things doesn't mean he's not trying to make something happen.

They somehow stayed quiet with all his other trades.

Almost all the rumors right now and things being reported are about the big names and frankly the Blazers probably have 0 shot at any of them, especially if CJ isn’t involved and NO has basically said he’s not going anywhere. The media isn’t going to spend a lot of time talking about Wayne Ellington and other MLE type of players.
If the Blazers were reportedly in the hunt for Kawhi or something like that, it would mean there name is just being thrown out there to get leverage, so while I get it would be nice to hear some rumors or something interesting to talk about. I just don’t think this is the summer for that.

I would add that a lot of leaks probably come from agents. So either don’t tell the agents, or be on good enough terms that they’ll keep their mouth shut.

Another explanation for the silence is that Olshey just doesn't do anything, far-fetched as that may seem. That would also explain why nothing changes, year after year. But you guys are probably right. He's probably busy-beavering away silently at his desk as we speak.

He’s almost certainly not looking to make a big trade and it’s easier to keep smaller deals under the wrap when the entire league is getting crazy about Kawhi potentially moving somewhere and LeBron’s free agency. We will get a lot of unexpected trades over the next two weeks.

He will do something but it will be fine tuning small moves rather than a huge splash, I expect.

I just peeked into the window and it looks good. There's a storm of paperwork flying around. The phones are ringing off the hook but he's running paper plane races against Chris McGowan.

I am not sure what Neil has planned but I am pretty sure the league does not care. We are Portland and we got rid of the Jailblazers so as far as anyone else is concerned we are not worth the time of day. We should have had PG last year our offer was way better then OKC but the Dbag Pritchard cut off his nose to spite his face and the rest of the league applauded him for it. If the Blazers win the Championship and at halftime they went out and walked across the Columbia River ESPN would report this: In an Amazing Display of Ineptitude the Entire Trailblazers team Proves they cannot SWIM. Which the story would be buried behind a 3rd grade dyslexic bean bag throwing contest and synchronized swimming story on how to bring it back to the winter Olympics.
In other words I only expect to get players through the draft.

You can bash Olshey. But right now the only thing out there that really has any substance is Jordan making himself available to talk to the Mavs. Course the Clippers finally got rid of Rivers Jr. But kind of sounds to me like there are 28 GM's not really saying or doing much just yet.

Neil Olshey is playing checkers while the rest of the league is playing chess

    Really?

How many Bucks rumors have you heard? Magic? Heat? Hawks? Knicks? Raptors? Pistons? Pacers? Nuggets? Wolves? Clippers? On and on and on.

If it doesn't have to do with Paul George, LeBron, Kawhi, or DeAndre Jordan there isn't much out there right now.

What is worse is he paid half of his checkers pieces twice as much as anyone else would so he's stuck with them.

Honestly even George, Lebron and Kawhi are all pretty much "Who KNows?" I kind of got the feeling Jordan is set for Dallas but i guess that could change too?

Good, much quicker to win in checkers where as chess takes a long time.
