Yeah most recent seasons. IMO CJ had a down year. I fully expect him to get away from Memelol this off-season and return to his 16-17 form. He's too smart to be a black hole on offense. He's too smart to not adjust to defenses collapsing on his dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble some more, and dribble some more. Plus altho I hate Portland coaches at times, I don't think they're stupid enough to not sit down with CJ and try to figure out why CJ was overdibbling. CJ 16-17 per36 3.7apg, 3.7rpg, 2.2tvo, 48fg%, 42 3pt% Then advanced stats 58TS% .131WS/48, 1bpm, 19.9 I had no hope for Batum to adjust his lack-a-dazical game from year to year. CJ I don't see that as part of him.
I'm not saying Curry is better, but I think he could (if healthy) do a very good job of replacing CJs production. Those two profiles are very close. I think Curry is a better Pick n Roll player and doesn't pound the ball as much. This could be a good C.J. replacement which would allow us to trade C.J. elsewhere. Also, Curry has a bigger standing reach than C.J.
I just think CJ is going to bounce back. Then you and I will both slam our faces on the desk when we see topics like in 16-17. 'Trade Lillard, CJ > Lillard, CJ is the better player and Lillard sucks' Who knows maybe Tunchi will return to create them.
Something seems afoot. I can't believe this massive accumulation of undersized guards who can't play D is it.
When I coached youth basketball and baseball and we were drafting and it got down to running out of choices as far as choosing a player who can help you, I always inevitably resorted to the “Mother Option”. Which meant choose the kid who’s mother “dresses up” your bleachers and gives you something to take your mind off a bad game or season. That’s gotta be what NO is doing in the Curry signing......
Then why are we signing them to such short contracts? I guess if CJ is gone it might clear some cap space next year?
My sources tell me that the Blazers are likely going to change their name . . . The Washington Generals.
