Hmm, well, it wouldn't be the first time that stats don't pass the eye test. I can't argue with the data, but don't come crying to me when everyone wants him gone in a year.
Sure sounds like it. A great way to lose their 1st round pick. --- Hawks (protected top 10) PICK MAY OR MAY NOT TRANSFER DEPENDING ON CAVALIERS DRAFT POSITION Traded • Kyle Korver to Cavaliers for • Mike Dunleavy • Mo Williams • first round pick (protected top 10 in 2019-20, else 2021 second round pick and 2022 second round pick) (?-?) • cash considerations on 2017-01-07
LBJ destroyed the future of the team with quick fixes. They need to burn it down and start over. Love isn't getting any younger, and his trade value isn't going up. But yeah, they may need to tank to keep their pick, too.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...trades-the-cleveland-cavaliers-should-explore Cavaliers Receive: F/C Meyers Leonard, SF Maurice Harkless, PF Caleb Swanigan, 2019 1st-round pick Blazers Receive: F/C Kevin Love Love was born in Santa Monica, California, but his family moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon, shortly thereafter. Love spent 18 years there, and he finished as the state's all-time leading scorer in boys' basketball history. Lake Oswego is roughly nine miles south of downtown Portland and a short 22-minute drive to the Moda Center, where the Trail Blazersplay. Sending Love back home and to a team that finished third in the loaded Western Conference last year would be a show of good faith for his contributions over the past four years. Portland could use a floor-stretching power forward to pair with its star backourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. While those two averaged 5.6 three-pointers last year, the Blazers were only 16th in the NBA in made triples per game (10.3). For Cleveland, this trade is mostly about getting Portland's unprotected first-round pick, although Swanigan is only 21 and could develop into a rotation-caliber big. Leonard and Harkless could potentially squeeze into the Cavaliers' rebuilding plans at ages 26 and 25, respectively, but they're mainly salary fillers that come off the books in 2020. If the Cavs gave either of them an opportunity to produce and flipped them to a contender for a low pick sometime before then, it'd be a win.
Finally, something that gives Portland a boost. Probably won't happen, but atleast it's not some lame, purge the Blazers star for a mediocre return to build a Stupidteam somewhere else. I'd throw an extra 1st rounder to them to get it done.
Just make it top 5 protected. If we miss the playoffs it'll be in the 12-14 spots which is fine to give up for love.
Still think this will be our best chance to actually improve this summer. Love is getting so underrated these days. deal 1: Leonard/Aminu/Layman/Swanigan/future first for Love deal 2: TPE for Clarkson It saves them a ton of future salary and gives them an extra pick for 2019 to expedite their rebuild. A Dame-CJ-Moe-Love-Nurk squad can do some damage. And I like Curry-Clarkson-ET-Collins off the bench. We'd then need to find more wings somewhere.
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-cavaliers-looking-unload-love-174811019--spt.html NBA insider Chris Sheridan reported the Portland Trail Blazers would also be a trade target of the Cavaliers.
He is just too injury prone to give up CJ or Collins for. Both of whom Cleveland will want. I would give them any Ohio State alum plus Aminu (and a pick)
Leonard, Aminu, Swanigan, our lottery protected 2019 pick and a right to swap in 2022 for Love would make a LOT of sense for both teams. Lillard (36) / McCollum (12) / Baldwin / Simons McCollum (23) / Curry (25) / Stauskas Harkless (30) / Trent (18) / Turner Love (35) / Collins (10) / Harkless (3) Nurkic (30) / Collins (18) / PapaG I like it.
