Even Turner was never a good player in Boston. He was average (which was good for him).

I love the optimism, that our system can turn a player who's been terrible for 4 years into a predictive player, I just don't think it's realistic.

Hardly played? He's played over 5600 minutes over his 4 seasons. That's almost 3 times as many as Pat. That's not "hardly playing".

Some of y'all seem to put out stuff like that without fact-checking it... And if you have cold steaks on layups, that likely means you're not a good finisher.

His stats has been consistently bad over 4 years where he's recieved consistent minutes.

It's no crap bait. You're flat out wrong.

You said he's a strong finisher, when he's shot 53% at the rim for his career. That's facts dude.

Bones, ET was a good player in Boston. He was a fine contributor there. He will help our team.

    Ok what way???
    2015-2016:
    51TS%
    .061 WS/48
    - 0.7BPM
    0.1 VORP

He had good parts of his game, but his deficiencies were just as glaring.

I never said he was good, but pat wasn’t good either and 17 minutes a game isn’t exactly big minutes. Especially when he was on bad teams with no stars to speak of. You’re the one getting all like I got to win an internet arguement over the Blazers 15th roster spot...

I’d like to discuss how our GM told one of the best back up bigs in the game to sign for 4.4m an hour or so before he agreed to sign Stauskus...
also pat didn’t play a ton of meaningful minutes over his career in Portland so his advanced stats are probably not the most accurate stats ever.

I dunno you can go ahead and talk about it, but throwing around advanced stats while useful isn’t he be in end all of a discussion either there’s more to basketball then that.

It's not the end all, be-all. 2pt%, assists, rebounds... none of those are in his favor. His advanced stats aren't just marginally bad, they're horrible. Maybe he makes a jump, but I don't expect it, and if he's playing minutes it's likely to be a disaster.

Don't even get me started with Olsehy. Our bench shot too many jumpers, and when we went cold, Ed was a security blanket. Now when we go cold, we'll be giving up a 12-0 run.

I don’t know how I feel about Stauskus besides the timing seemed crappy that night. However guys like him do tend to play better when they have guys Like Dame or CJ that will get most of the attention.
He sure hasn’t been good so far not denying that, but I don’t think Pat was very good either.

At least Pat was competitive defensively and was a smart player. That's why he was better. And Pat isn't even good.

We need two-way/all-round/multi-skilled players. But Olshey can only seem to focus on one trait each off-season.

It seemed like Pat fouled a lot, I’m not sure what the real numbers were on that but it’s at least one of those things that was in my head he seemed aggressive but it wasn’t always a positive. Anyways I actually did kind of like the Seth Curry pick up if that means anything.

I did too, but our off-season is an absolute favor if this is all it is.

Olshey needed to go 2 summers ago. Idk why he's still on board.

The timing sure does seem messed up, but free agency isn't perfect. If Davis got the offer today instead of in the first hour of free agency then he might still be a Blazer. It really looks as if Olshey had a sign-and-trade in place for Cousins which would have hard capped us. Signing Davis, even at just $4.4 million might have screwed that up. If you think about it from that perspective it makes sense. Davis would no longer get any playing time if Cousins was healthy. Stauskas, Curry, and Trent were all being brought in to load the floor with shooters around Dame, CJ, and Cousins.

I understand. I was pretty annoyed last weekend but it’s kind of passed, I just heard the press conference and I dunno just... I guess I can leave at that. I really hope you’ve been right all along about this off-season.

I am starting to doubt myself, ha ha.

Honestly though I'd keep an eye on the Jabari Parker situation. The Bucks being hard capped might make them desperate to shed salary.

Well that could be interesting. The Ed thing maybe it’s just me being a homer but I really thought he was in the top 3-4 backups bigs in the NBA and probably my fault for over valueing him but listening to NO earlier was making me do a lot of sighing and shaking my head. Anywho! You can’t doubt it now, stay strong!

    Neil Olshey
    On Lillard-to-Lakers trade rumors:

As much as I love LeBron, the NBA isn’t his personal game at Rucker [Park]. So he doesn’t get to pick his teammates. That’s not how it works. Damian’s out there working, Damian is here, Damian has three years left on his contract; this isn’t the world of ‘let’s just send a couple of texts out on a string and see who wants to run with us,’ this is the NBA.

Later calling them “much ado about nothing”:

Clearly there are myths that some of our broadcast partners like to perpetuate because it is click bait and it brings viewers. And at the end of the day, it’s all much ado about nothing.

On helping Ed Davis take his deal with the Brooklyn Nets:

I counseled him to take that job. And I think if you asked Ed today, the counsel was pretty good.

    On moves completed this offseason:

We had limited tools in terms of all we had was the Tax Payer Mid-Level [Exception] and minimums [exceptions]. So at this point, what we wanted to do was make sure we secured players we know would fit into our system, that can translate immediately in terms of skill-set and produce on the court.

On moves that could be coming:

We’ll get to Summer League, we’ll be with all of our colleagues, we’ll start generating and being presented with different deals to kind of upgrade the roster, and we’ll pursue those as diligently as we always do.

On the league being quiet so far in terms of moves:

I think everybody wants answers in the first 24 hours, and that’s just not viable. You have an 82-game season, you don’t write the narrative after Game 1. We have four months of offseason, you don’t write it on July 1st.

On the team’s focus this offseason:

We also ran into a buzzsaw in the playoffs, and a lot of that had to with floor-spacing, it had to do with floor balance, it had to do with a lack of shooting from different positions on the floor. So we made a decision that we were going to make a move, clear up some roster spots.

    Seth Curry
On his road to recovery from injury:

I’m past the rehab stage, and right now it’s just all strength work and court work, so it’s the fun stuff of working on my game and getting in shape.

On what be brings to Portland:

I feel like with my skill-set I can make it easier on a lot of guys that they already have on the team.

    On the chance he has:

I’m just looking forward to another opportunity to come in and kinda make my mark again.

    Nik Stauskas
    On signing with Portland:

Seeing the success that Shabazz [Napier] and Pat [Connaughton] had last year coming off the bench, for me that kind of made me feel a little bit more confident in making my decision.

I wonder if Ed Davis basically said "Neil, they're offering me a starting spot" and Neil said "With Zach Collins getting more minutes, I think you should do it." Everyone was upset at Neil on 6/30 but it was ED DAVIS who signed the contract with Brooklyn almost immediately. It's not like we traded Ed. Neil always saw Ed as value. I mean he gave the guy a 3 year 20 mill contract 3 years ago. And Quick way overreacted on Saturday night.
