Tim Frazier, but with better defense. I would love if he could be another Tim Frazier for us. Greg Anthony would be even better.
He's definitely bigger and more athletic too. Tim Frazier definitely isn't dunking on anyone. He's probably a better shooter too.
Yeah he is like 30 lbs heavier than Frazier. He plays in the style of Jason Kidd....without the HOF potential. (Poor mans version). I said this in another thread but he reminds me of Lonzo Ball. (but with better form on his shot)
Maybe he's more like Kyle Lowry? Both started in Memphis. Lowry was a horrible three point shooter until later in his career. Baldwin is bigger though.
As a "Power Guard", he kind of reminds me of Bonzi Wells (or maybe Rider). It's just that Wells used his bulk for evil (offense) while Baldwin uses it for good (defense).
In an older interview, someone asked Baldwin how he tries to play the game. He said basically, "Like Westbrook but smarter". Obviously, he isn't MVP caliber. But I see that same bully style, that same unchecked ferocity, and nonstop aggression. So, he's a bench version of Westbrook, but he tries to play more intelligently.
Frazier will always be a minus defender because of his diminutive size. He could NEVER be the 3rd guard in a rotation with Dame and C.J. as starters. Frazier paired with either would be undersized fr a high school back court. Likewise, his tinyness eliminates all possibility of playing a 3-guard lineup. The Greg Anthony comparison is legit. Like Anthony, Baldwin is a great defender. I remember when Anthony shut down Stockton in the 4th quarter of Game 6 of that UTA series back in '99. Baldwin has that kind of defensive potential. The good news is Baldwin is only 22. Anthony was 24 as an NBA rookie and didn't develop a reliable 3-point shot until he was 29. If Anthony is his upside, Baldwin is way ahead of the curve. BNM
Some parts of their games are similar, some aren’t. Both have a similar pull up midrange game. Both are tenacious. Both are great in transition. But Westbrook is more explosive and a better finisher. Wade isn’t as selfish though and has better vision.
Thomas Robinson, Biebs, Westbrook - a small minority of players whose brains kept them back. It's really hard to understand them.
I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m hatin’ cause I really like Baldwin’s game, but he kind of reminds me of delladova just a more athletic version.
If Olshey was smart, Baldwin should definitely get Napier's minutes this year. I'm still not sure about Olshey's intelligence, however.
He's better than Tim Frazier in every aspect, but the style of play is similar. I think Baldwin still has some unrealized potential, too.
I can only wish Biebs was able to play anywhere near half of an MVP level like Westbrook despite the brainless attribute.
My theory is Curry will get his minutes and they'll hold Wade back so they can resign him to a cheap, multi-year deal next summer before they unleash him the following year.
