You're late to this party. Nbadraftroom.com had that as Trent's comp months ago.

Yeah but Wes was a 23 year old rookie. Trent is currently 19. He might get a little stronger in 4 years.

The question I was going to ask is: How was Wes' defense as a rookie? And yeah, 4 years is a lot.

Sorry, Baldwin is a better version of Wes in my mind. At least defensively.

His defense as a rookie in the playoffs on Kobe was why he got a contract.

I don’t think we can say that until we see him some more on against NBA competition.

Harden was MVP this year correct?

Did you watch how Baldwin basically shut Harden down at the end of the year?

I think I can totally say that... though its only an opinion. ;)

Well, he played well that game, but it takes more then one game to prove he can do it consistently, that was like Hardens 60th game of the year and Baldwin’s 1st real minutes.

I like where your head is at.

However, Trent isn't where Matthews was as a defender.
Trent is already past Matthews in dribbling and aggressiveness.

Different players Trent has better handles then Wes. 3 point shooting is only thing close between each other. Of course Wes was stronger due he was older and I think Trent can get there in time.

Difference: occasionally Wes sees a shot he DOESN'T like.

I think Trent's superior handle breaks this comparison. Come back to me in a few years and we'll see how they compare defensively.

    On offense maybe??

Wes isn’t in the same world as Trent offensively, just as Trent isn’t close defensively.

From the second he was drafted I said Trent became our third best scorer.

I think the point that @Fez Von Savage is making is that he didn't think Trent was an NBA player, now he thinks he is a good one, and it throwing out a quick comparator. I think the whole thread is a compliment to Trent.

Can anyone offer a better comparator?

Trent is a better shooter, particularly in the mid-range. I think he'll be a much better passer as a pro. Wes' defense was solid but a bit overrated IMHO.
