Dang, sorry to hear about your health riverman. Take it easy, and get yourself better. And make sure not to tell your Doctor about this board, or it'll surely get added to your list of banned activities.
I've always had a heart murmur and was born with it...always had low blood pressure, etc....strangely it was physical activity that pushed it over the limit...learned a lot about it. I have to wear a protective vest for a month...have to live a very simple way for a long stretch....I plan to work on some writing projects I've been working on for a long time...and reading a lot. My wife has been wonderful as has my son.....I'm in good hands on the homefront...probably be 6 months before I'll be back to strength and able to do things I enjoy. All my other numbers are great though and surprisingly my lungs were perfectly clear...for 9 days I could barely breath....thought I had lung cancer...it was my heart causing my lungs to flood with water from my body as the blood wasn't providing it.....not in the clear yet but to avoid stroke or heart attack, I have to flush the heart and get the strength of heart tissue back to snuff
You guys are going to regret me having even more time on my hands to hang around here now...good news....I'll never work a job for the rest of my life...finally...retired completely
Wow, sorry to here the problems you are having but glad you were able to get treatment in time. Rest up and take care of yourself.
You are one of my favorites here @riverman . I'm glad the prognosis is looking good going forward. Sending out my positive thoughts, for whatever that is worth.
glad you're doing ok, and got the help you needed. Did you qualify for 100% disability? My grandfather did (long story short: had heart issues). He was a work-a-holic who had to retire in his late 50's. Had to change his lifestyle drastically.
Wishing you health. Heal up and get better . . . we need you for your positivity, kindness, and to keep fighting the good fight!
I can't mow the lawn, either. I hire a yard maintenance crew for about $45/week. It's a two man crew and they put in a 20 minute day very efficiently. Less than 20 years ago I was working out aerobically five times a week. Occasionally pushing some pretty heavy weights. Now, my wife has to assist me when I go from room to room. She throws a wheel chair in the trunk if I have to walk any distance at all. I need a wheel chair when I go to Blazer games. Make this promise to your wife. Promise her that you'll do your level best to outlive her. Cheering her up will cheer you up.
I was painfully awake during my conversions. One lasted 2 1/2 hours. I was awake during the whole painful operation but was unable to move. Couldn't even indicate to the doctor that it hurt. The is the procedure that Aldridge had but his was about 15 minutes.
Glad you made it there in time and I'm wishing you a speedy, safe recovery. Assure me of one thing though, you'll still be able to go fishing and eat your catches, right?!
Man, brushes with mortality suck. I’m really glad you were able to get the medical help you needed in time and that you’ve got a supportive family situation. Heal up and get as healthy as possible. As others have said, you’re one of my favorite posters on this board so for purely selfish reasons, I hope you have a long life remaining. On a positive note, happy retirement!
I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through this but we are all glad that you made it out okay. I’m sure it will be an adjustment for you, but you were given more time in this earth for a reason. Stay strong and keep posting!
Hey River, Very sorry to hear this. I truly hope the best for you to recover as much as possible and minimize the disability. I'm sure I am echoeing many members get well wishes. Stay positive and don't slip on the recovery process!
