Before they do that why don't we take advantage of them if they are willing to take bad contracts for picks?

Use the TPE (I know, 13 more days):
Blazers get Mason Plumlee (TPE), DeMarre Carroll, and Jeremy Lin
    Nuggets get Caleb Swanigan
Nets get Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard, 2019 1st from Blazers, and pick(s) from Nuggets

Blazers Starters: Dame, CJ, Harkless, Aminu, Nurk

Blazers Bench: Lin, Baldwin, Curry, Trent, Simons, Stauskas, Carroll, Layman, Collins, Plumlee

That's a pretty dang good bench in my opinion. The only problem I see is big man depth if there are injuries.

I would take out the Nugs in all this. Don't want to touch Plums' contract.

Turner + Caleb + pick for Carroll
    TPE for Lin

We rid ourselves of Turner for a 3 &D guy who had a decent bounce back year. Lin can be a serviceable backup. Both have contracts that expire next summer. Turner will have a year left, but the 9 mil or so of extra salary they're taking on in aggregate can be offset by the pick and Caleb.

This should absolutely destroy Melo's ego - but it won't.

So you're doing the same deal, except keeping Leonard and not acquiring Plumlee? In a vacuum, would you not trade Leonard for Plumlee?

Shit good call. I was misreading Barton's contract for Plums'. Did not want extra salary.

Yeah, Plumlee's contract is still tough to take on but not bad considering we'd be ridding ourselves of our two worst contracts and bringing in two other decent players on one year deals.

I really like a bench of Baldwin/Lin/Curry/Carroll/Collins/Plumlee. Since that's 6 guys it gives us some trade options too at the deadline since one guy would likely be out of the rotation.

That is the biggest “duh” of all “duhs” this summer.

    "Duh"

Is a word that's supposed to mock the sound that a person with special needs allegedly makes. It's an idiom that basically means:

"Even a person with special needs knows this".

    That's why people say "Duh".

People even do it while making a funny gesture with their arm up against their chest like they're "retarded".

No, I get it, I just didn't think something so ubiquitous and said by so many people had an undertone like that.

Which is funny, because one of my favorite things to do (but maybe not the most healthiest) is de-constructing words to find the meanings of it.

I have never seen anyone do that. And I have never heard this before.

I have seen people slap their head and say "duh."

There's such an easy way to make this go political... must resist.
