Let me get this straight. We are talking about a one year rental on a guy who sat out an entire season with a questionable injury, and has threatened to sit out next season if not traded to the team he wants.

Unless SA is willing to take Meyers and Turner....they can keep their tumor. Giving value makes no sense.

Where is this from? The draft?

I think his agent/uncle are more the issue than Kawhi himself. I'd rather take the risk.

There is no way to do that without a third team, right? We can't combine with the trade exception and don't really have an appealing contract to match. ET would obviously be our choice, but can't see SA wanting that.

Aren't the Blazers always mentioned in certain trade rumors? What was it that people used to say? not swayed?

If we did gut our forwards, the FA pool is pretty barren.

    Alan Williams
    Trevor Booker
    Vonleh
    Michael Beasley
    David West
    Quincy Acy

Wed probably be better off looking to Europe to fill the hole. Anthony Randolph for example.

Harkless works. He fits what San Antonio likes. Defensive minded, long, athletic, still fairly young. And a short term contract, so if he doesn’t work out, he turns into an expiring.

Well it wouldn’t just be Collins and Simons. Wed add Aminu and Harkless for salary purposes.

But man if I’m Denver, I’m offering up Porter Jr for Kawhi.

Edit: looking at their contracts, I don’t see them being able to match up, unless they’re ready to give up Gary Harris

There is a little more to it than just that. I don't think he ever said he would sit out if traded to a team he didn't want. Did he?

All players have huge egos and when they feel like they were "wronged" then their egos and pride take over. Kawhi is pissed at the Spurs organization including Pop. Apparently he feels that they gave him bad advice on his injury (Twice) and that Pop had his vets throw him under the bus for not playing. It backfired. They are not coming back from that. One of them is being petty, maybe both.
But that doesn't mean he is trying to force himself to a specific team.

Porter Jr. and what else? Most teams don’t think very highly of his back problems or else he wouldn’t have been 14.

Considering how risk averse San Antonio typically is, I’d be shocked if they were interested in MPJ, who probably can’t even play this year.

That said, if I’m the Blazers anyone but Damian is available.

I've tried, but my mind cannot entertain a world in which Olshey pulls off a bigtime trade like this. Our being mentioned signals to me the presence of the Neil Olshey version of "due diligence," ie calling and saying, "please..."

What in the world would we do at the 4? Play Kawhi there?

Well he was the GM when the Clippers got Chris Paul. I know there were weird circumstances around it but it was a huge trade.

I don’t even think this is “due diligence”... Neil is just using his connection with Woj to be mentioned to look like he is trying.
