Would you have been happy giving up CJ, Collins, and a first for Kawhi? Because that’s pretty much what Toronto did.

Not if he ends up bolting to the Lakers.

Would you have thought we fleeced San Antonio?

False choice. It's an unrealistic trade that would never happen because Pop is petty.

You don't think they could've gotten a better package from Philly?? Pop sent him to Toronto as a big fuck you.

    False choice.

Did the Spurs fall apart last season when he only played 6 games? As a practical matter, this wasn't a trade of Kawhi for DD - this was a trade of an empty seat on the bench for DD.

An empty seat on the bench that could have been traded for many other things.

Like what? A pu pu platter from LA and Lavar Ball?

They just got a 20 ppg scorer on contract for three years and a decent young big man while getting rid of a guy who was clearly causing chemistry issues in the locker room and was on the last year of his contract.

As I said earlier, we'll be looking up at SA in the standings this year. They might win 50 + again.

Whatever. My only point is that from a trade value standpoint, Kawhi was worth a lot more to the Spurs than an empty seat.

DD doesn’t seem to me like a great fit for the Spurs, but Pops’ brilliance has always been fitting odd parts into the Spurs England making them work.

No way they touch 50 wins with losing Parker, Kyle Anderson and Green. Gasol being another year older isn't helping anything either. They could be better than the Blazers, sure, but I think their ceiling is like the 5th seed if nobody gets hurt.

Seriously, I doubt that. Not that many teams are in a position to give up a truckload of talent for a one year rental. On top of that is the very real risk that he will never take the court next season and you don't even get one year of contention from the deal.

They got Lonnie Walker who should be better than Parker was last year.
Kyle Anderson is being replaced by Belinelli.
They replaced Kawhi who played only 9 games last year with a healthy Derozan.
And Poeltl should take some of Gasol's minutes.

They won 47 last year. I think they'll be the clear cut #3 in the west next season if nothing else changes.

I will be interested to see how good DeMar is now that he's playing in the West...
At least he's going from a mediocre system to a great system (best system of the past 20 years), so he should transition a hell of a lot better than Turner who went through the exact opposite transition.

I think most of those guys can replace the offense, but not the defense. Add DeRozen to the mix and it makes things worse on D. Plus he is a high usage player, so he'll be taking a lot of touches away from LA who is a more efficient scorer.

I would only consider it if he was deemed 100% healthy and if he indicated he would want to stay. Danny Green can walk next year and the Blazers could be left with nothing but visions of lottery. What do you think the Olshey bashing would be like if after next year we have nothing to show for CJ, Collins and a first round pick?

Something tells me this isn’t over. I have a gut feeling Toronto trades Kawhi for Ball and Ingram+Filler at some point this season

True. I just don’t think Kawhi is going to enjoy Toronto. Toronto is a great city, but it’s a total opposite of what Kawhi is used to. Then again so is OKC compared to LA.
