Well Ed was Dames best friend on the team (Important to keep your stars happy!).
I’d rather have Ed than any of the guys you listed.
Ed’s role as an offensive rebounder played perfectly into basically all of the Blazers rotations because he could hang around the basket and the rest of the team plays further away from the basket for the most part. He was a role player that knew his role and played it well. Too many role players have a hard time just doing what’s asked for them. I think Ed was limited yes, but also a great fit for the Blazers.

Ed's tenacity and offensive rebounding will not be replaced. Let's hope our shooters can keep that from being as much of an issue.

Masai: “The fans are always on my mind, but they don’t have the information that we have and that sometimes makes it hard. If we didn’t do anything, I think everybody would by (mad). ‘It’s the same team ... will only lose in the playoffs again would be the narrative.’”

It’s nice to see a GM that actually has respect for the fans

I loved Ed's way and his relentlessness. Still do and wish him well!
However I think while Ed was here, he mostly played out of his natural position as a legit board banging around the hoop 4. Yep he was a good backup center or even a starter at the 5 some times.
I still think he should have started more games at the four. JMO

Ujiri: "Without the medical drama we'd have no chance of getting a player like this. Zero," says that's where the risk comes in.

It’s nice to see a GM realize you have to assume risk for high reward.

Not to pile on Neil any further, but contrast Olshey's press conferences with this:

No condescension, acknowledging mistakes, admitting risks, etc etc. Just so much more genuine and a level of accountability than anything you see from Neil.

My lord, this guy is a class act... gold standard for a GM... I could listen to his press conference over and over. I wish I could post the entire transcript... everything he says is the exact opposite of Neil... for anyone doubting what a snake oil salesman Neil is, please take the time to watch this

DeRozan didn’t seem to think he was a class act...

A few things wrong with this argument:

    1. 4.4 mil is a damn steal.
    2. Ed wouldn't take minutes away from Zach.
    3. If he didn't take that offer we maybe could have had him for less.
    4. He wouldn't be out of a job. He's needed here.

You have to be able to connect dot a to dot b.

Someone else said he wants to win. I said then he will demand a trade. dot a to dot b means that I think OKC will not win with Westbrook.

So, if he wants to win, he will demand a trade.

    Does it make sense now?

?? Portland added two playoff tested vets in Curry and Stauskas.

Ujiri’s mandate is to elevate the Raptors to a championship contender, a status they’ve flirted with for several years. He said that’s ultimately what prompted the trade for Leonard and veteran Danny Green.

“You can’t continue doing the same thing over and over again,” he said.
