Edit: I also think giving up CJ for Richardson means we would see even MORE Turner because we be losing our 2nd ball handler and Richardson isn’t really all that much of one.
If you want to sale CJ to another team maybe you should mention that he’s one of the best shooters in the NBA, he’s crafty with the ball, played a lot of minutes on a top 10 defensive unit.
You can dislike CJ’s game all you want but he’s a much better player than Richardson. He’s a very good 2g. He’s not as bad as you make him out to be, is he a great fit in Portland? Not really, but boiling his game down to short iso ball chucker seems a little reductive...

 

I disagree, you are greatly overrating him 1) because he is a Blazers, 2) because he sores a lot of points and that’s the flashy stat. Is CJ a good passer? No. Can he get to the free throw line above average? No. Is he a good defender? No... and for all the points he scores, he attempts the 7th most shots per game in the NBA... would rather have a more spread offense outside of Dame

 

Well he was is a 40% 3 point shooter, 88% ft shooter, and for his career has a 52% efg which is really freaking good for a Guard especially a guard where there has been only one other good option on his team. It’s not about over rating CJ he’s a good 2 guard probably in the 7-12ish range in the NBA at his position.
Whether you can accept it or not defense in the NBA is a team thing and CJ was part of a good defensive team last year. Is he a good one on one defender? No, but he and Dame have both learned how to put more effort in on that end of the court.

I could simply say you’re under-rating him because you don’t like him and that’s just as bad as an arguement as saying I’m over rating him because he’s a Blazer.

 

But I thought that everyone cares about your opinion? Isn't that what you claim? That you post what you do so that you can influences people's opinions? You're contradicting yourself.

 

Bro, you literally don't back up any of your stupid BS with anything except for conjecture... Conjecture that's biased because you like to whine... C.J. doesn't pass? He gets more assists than Richardson does! That's an example of BS conjecture just to whine about C.J. We'd play more as a "team"? What does that mean? More ball movement? More cutting? Another example of a broad statement of conjecture.

"You can make up the 9 points"... How? By having Harkless, Turner, Nurkic, and Aminu shoot more? Do you really think that we'll be better offensively by replacing all of C.J.'s production with less efficient players? Lmao.

 

Also, a good defense is usually better than the sum of their parts... The individual parts don't matter as much, it's the collection of pieces together... Big men are also more important defensively, as they can't control the game as much offensively, and if they're good enough, they can make up for mistakes by guards on the perimeter or allow guards to play or shadow offensive players in a certain way that neutralizes their respective weaknesses. So I don't think putting a better defender in CJ's spot would make us that much better defensively. Richardson isn't a guy that makes our defensive lineup all that more switchable like a Jimmy Butler or Khris Middleton would. The sacrifice offensively would be much greater.

CJ takes the 7th most FGA per game last season and not in top 15 in scoring... not efficient if you ask me... plus it kills the flow of the offense with him over dribbling and only looking for his own shot unless it’s a last second bailout

 

I’m all for trading CJ if you can equal or better talent out of it, Richardson is no where close to an all star in the east, if CJ was in the east I can almost guarantee you he becomes a perennial all star.
I think Richardson is an ok role player, but that’s about it.
It’s funny how much CJ is getting bashed for being the 2nd best player on a 49 win basketball team.
I’m not disagreeing that CJ has flaws he does! Does he over dribble? Yes! Does he go into I will shoot no matter what mode? Yup!
But you talk like the guy is straight garbage and he just isn’t...
There are better players / prospects the Blazers should be able to swing for CJ than Richardson.
Anyways not trying to dogpile on you, as I agree with you that I wouldn’t mind moving on from CJ, and maybe I over rate him, but I believe you might be guilty of under rating him too.

You do realize that this is a stupid way to measure for efficiency, right? Thats because it doesnt take into account FTAs (which most top scorers get a ton of). At least you brought more than conjecture this time, but you should provide proper context with all stats.
