Back in the day, I used to say I would rather see T-Rob on the floor than Leonard. They were both clueless and messed up frequently - but at least T-Rob played hard while Leonard often just stood around and watched.

As for Aminu, I have no problem having one guy like that in the rotation. Hustle guys have their value, even if they aren't pretty about it. The problem, is that you can't have Aminu and Hark (or any of our other SF candidates) on the floor together. You leave the Blazers playing 2.5 on 5 on offense.

Come on dude. This is a ridiculous post. How many posters here have played D1 ball? Much less NBA.

    Are you Mixum?

    1) The eye test is a valid metric, but one that can have serious flaws. However, it's really surprising to me that anyone, in this millenium would completely eschew statistical evidence.

    2) It is also strange that @Blazer4ever and I have such disparate eye-tests. Yes, Aminu can "look" awkward out there. But, not only do I not think that Aminu is worse than the posters on s2, I think Aminu could have taken down the entire 3-on-3 basketball tournament, 1-on-3.

    Fun story:
One time a team of ex-blazers came to my small town and participated in a charity basketball game. The blazers were very lackadaisical because they didn't want to ruin the fun of a charity event. Put another way, they would intentionally play down to their competition. Some young guys let their egos get the better of them and tried to outdo the blazers. The Blazers squashed them like bugs. When my team and I got on the court, they basically let us shoot if we weren't too close to the basket. I went 3-for-3 hitting my outside shots. I was passed the ball again and I was open. As I went to take the shot, Darnell Valentine decided that I had scored enough and went to block my shot, Shit! I got somewhat nervous of course, but I wasn't going to get my shot blocked no matter how long and quick this dude was. So, I put extra arc on the shot and it wasn't blocked. Unfortunately, the ball flew up into the air and went 1 foot shy of the basket - air ball. I had always assumed that Valentine was 6'5" out there because he could so easily block my shot (I'm 5'10" in shoes). I just looked it up.... Valentine is 6'1". Shit, again. Side Note: I couldn't possibly imagine getting my shot off against a 60-something year old Darrall Imhoff who also was playing for the blazers - he's listed as 6'10". I'm pretty Effing sure that only 1 or 2 people on s2 (maybe less) could even get a shot off against the superlong Aminu.

He's been a horribly inefficient (48 TS%) turnover machine (0.6 assists for every turnover) that has no value on the defensive end.

These type of things really bother me. NBA players who are "trash" are so much better at basketball than like 99% of the planet. When 10-12 years ago I was a good basketball player, starter in HS, small college (Canada) played all the freaking time. I have played against d1 players and while I could hold my own for stretches the fact is those guys are incredible and whats more is none of those guys were NBA players. It is utterly ridiculous to say a good role player in the NBA has less skill than us common people.
People gotta really watch out saying those guys are awful, or whatever and remember it's just that they aren't good enough for the competition they're with, don't get into this oh I'm better than that guy crap because it's stuuuuupid.
Of course you have guys here or there who are really only even on a team because they're tall and athletic, but even most of those guys are better than people like me. I can't speak for everyone for all I know there are NBA players or a bunch of d1 or better basketball players here, but in almost all the circles I find myself in, in real life people think I'm really good at basketball, but it's just relative to how good they are, compared to nba players I'm like a toddler and even in my best shape ever I wasn't all that close.

Your problem is you trust stats with initials like VORP more than you trust your eyes.

My eyes tell me Trobs not getting minutes in Russia and Aminu is a starter on an NBA team...
For the record Trob was an NBA level athlete that lacked the more “intangible” skill sets to thrive in the NBA, but part of being an NBA basketball player is being coachable, learning your craft, knowing the sport. Lots of great athletes aren’t good basketball players.

But. You have more knowledge than anyone here. You don't know what they mean?

This is maybe the worst post yet. And im gonna take a break for a while.

I don't have enough NBA knowledge to have a discussion with people here...

    Fucking ridiculous......

For some reason I knew that you wouldn't have any clue what those stats meant.

To be fair there’s like a new acronym for some random stat, someone threw together like every week... Not that this one is new but it’s hard to keep up.

I understand that but if someone is claiming they have more basketball knowledge than someone else, that person can't just claim eye test for every argument. They can't just dismiss someone's stats because they don't understand them.

I trust my eyes, but the "eye test" is subjective and influenced by bias. Meanwhile, statistics are derived directly from what happens on the court, and serves as an unbiased, detailed reflection of productivity.

Those who don't understand stats or have an argument that goes against stats will always say "Stats don't matter" without saying why certain stats aren't an accurate reflection or productivity, or "Stats are misleading" without providing the missing context that's being withheld to make the stats "misleading".
