I would say that James is my lone and first exception to that point of view, otherwise I'm all in.

Oddly enough, I think that deep down he's a good guy. At least he's a good guy in the sense that George Bush II is a good guy. I'd love to have George as my next door neighbor and I'll bet I'd like El Presidente as a neighbor even if I disagreed with his politics.

Somewhere there has to be people who love you. I'm sure your mother, grandmother, grandfather and some woman somewhere all love you.

Your priest and psychiatrist probably hold a different view.

How much do you make a year?
I know a certain tournament going on right now that has a prizepool of over 25 million.

Maybe you should play video games for 80 hours a week.
They might be nerds, but between sponsorship and prizepools for placing(not winning) in a tourney. I bet these nerds do much better than you.

Sure, people make millions of dollars masturbating too. Doesn't mean a school should dedicate a program to it.

And if you take the average salary of a "gamer", I bet I blow them out of the fucking water.

The MORE likely scenario for most is that it will be an addictive distraction for many, causing them to lose focus and drop out of school playing video games all day, not that people will make careers out of it because the University of Akron is making it legitimate.

Just a question as you come across as someone that has no clue what goes on in college and what it takes to get a degree. I take it by your response above the answer is no.

Citing how few actually become 'professional gamers' is illogical, and a dumb argument.

Some make millions of dollars playing basketball. Doesn't mean a school should dedicate a program to it.
So why do they do it?
Because the program makes the school money.

The more likely scenario for most is schools will realize the revenue which can be made by having a program for 'gamers'.
There are already people who pay other people for coaching, and already other colleges across the country have classes for specific games.
This is nothing new. LBJ and his people didn't suddenly have this idea. This has been happening for 15 years+ I'm aware of.
Why shouldn't a college which is designed to make money. Try to get some money off 'gamers' by offering a course which has coaches/professors teaching them to get better?

If you believe people should be forced into the trades, that's fine.
But right now there is no law which forces someone into that.

BTW this is straight off google.
Regular salaries - Regular esports salaries vary from team to team and from player to player. The regular monthly salaries of average pro gamers can range from $1,000to $5,000, whereas the highest paid League of Legends players can earn up to$15,000 per month apart from the money that they get from prizes.Jun 5, 2018

Sponsors alone which pay your room/board, food, as well as spending $.
Blows your average american working 9-5 out of the water.

So yeah, I make more than they do. And these are the ones who make it to the pros, doesn't count the losers who end up getting addicted and live in their parent's basement playing for 80 hours a week.

I didn’t graduate college, I put in 2 years at pcc dropped out went to Canada to keep playing basketball, I liked drinking and sex at that age over ya know being a responsible adult.
When I got back to the states I got even worse with the drinking and sex, then I eventually settled down and got a real job and have self-educated myself with online learning (Udemy, Edx, coursera, etc), so now I’m on the career path of a software engineer. None of that’s all that important for this conversation, but my major was History at the time, had their been a video game program and I decided to take that it wouldn’t have changed anything.
People will be or won’t be successful by how much effort they put into something. If they want to support esports instead of history whatever it doesn’t really matter, it’s about providing kids a place to perfect the things they’re into.

The idea that this is some how bad for kids is pretty short sighted in my opinion. The funny thing is I don’t watch esports, it’s not entertaining for me. A bunch of old professors writing a petition because they’re threatened by the fact kids are more interested in video games and making money that way than by the crap they teach just makes me think, “oh well”.

I’ve been told the Porn industry is the largest in the world. I’ve never cared to look it up, so I can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t be shocked...

I can't imagine a porn star earning a Million dollars.

A little Google research yielded -
"An actress on the other hand typically earns anywhere between $400 - $2000 per shoot depending on the nature of the scene, the filming company and the actress' level of experience. Asa Akira for instance earns $2000 per scene due to her huge level of experience and popularity. A top female actress usually gets $800 for a gay scene, $1000 for a straight scene, and can receive $5,000 or more for more sexually compromising scene."
