I've never heard monkey used as a compliment. That's a first. I've heard it used plenty of times always in reference to an African-American in a harshly demeaning tone. I suggest you never use that term when talking about an African-American and you're in polite company.
The three quotes you used of mine don’t show the trend. Quote 1 I said explicitly that I didn’t know if it was racism. Quote two was not talking about the question of this statement but a discussion regarding why it is important to point out racism when you recognize it. Quote 3 does not say it’s racist either, just that when you take into account context then the likelihood increases significantly. You might look for more on-point quotes to prove your point.
If this guy is a racist I promise you there will be other things that he's said that will come to light.
I agree totally with your statement. And, my hope is that in the long run pointing out racism, homophobia, sexism... becomes beneficial in reducing such nastiness. But we need to understand that we are playing the long (and ethical) game and that short game we often look petty and overly sensitive.
That’s true if he is a real racist. However, if he is just willing to walk this line to pick up voters then there may not be a history. It’s very possible he is calculating and is using these dog whistles to appeal to his potential voters. After all, he is a politician.
I only disagree with the short game analysis. It never looks petty and overly sensitive to stand up for what's right unless the viewer has significant problems.
Unfortunately, there are many who sadly, in their minds truly believe that they are not racist, when without realizing it, actually are in their hearts.
You mean sorta like this? DeSantis Moderates Hate-Filled Facebook Group That Attacks African-Americans, Parkland Survivors and Muslims Edit: Sly, you better not ever run for office. barfo
Perhaps I am DeSantis... it's all a part of the deep state conspiracy. Besides, I fixed a typo in someone's thread title just this morning! barfo
Barfo - could you make it so whenever someone types @Further it shows @snufaloffagus instead? Then all your powers will be put to auspices use.
I can remember when you could have stood for right. You did not. I should have let that State Cop encourage you.
All three show your lean as a result of the event. Lean and trend are not much different in this discussion. Sort of odd you object. It seems we may have sort of found some common ground. Ha! Perhaps that is painful.
@MarAzul would you post in and moderate a forum where saying racist things is normal vernacular? Really?? Barfo participates in the forum. Moderating it means nothing. Being a part of the group and posting there MATTERS. @barfo would you post in and moderate a forum where saying racist things is normal vernacular?
You may consider yourself invited to post in the thread I started so you can explain what the hell your racist things are.
