    Even if your numbers are accurate, that tax cut cost the American people a trillion dollar deficit. Now, in order to pay for all this massive spending Trump has done he wants to take away medicare, cut back on social security and many other very minor programs that cost very little. Still no budget and he wants billions for his wall that he said Mexico was going to pay for and who knows how much he will want to start doing something to the infrastructure. Where is that money coming from? Also, toss in that these corporate tax breaks haven't "trickled down" but instead have allowed those corporations to do stock buy backs and make the share holders richer. You have been duped HG.

    Sure, but that kind of misses the point I was trying to make.

    If there are more people who vote against you because you are X, rather than for you because you are X, then that's a negative for getting elected. No matter what fraction of the population cares about X. Being black or being female is probably a negative rather than a positive. How big a negative, I don't know.

    It can be outweighed by a lot of other factors - in Obama's case, I'd say (a) Obama's superb campaign, (b) the financial crisis, and (c) Sarah Palin - but in a tight race it can be the deciding factor.

    Clearly, in Obama's elections, it wasn't close and wasn't the deciding factor. If Hillary had been black in 2016 in addition to female, I'd guess she would have gotten fewer votes - do you disagree?

    So it seems that Kavanaugh did some dirty deeds back when he worked for the Bush administration, and then lied to Congress, under oath, about it. Multiple times.

    It's really kind of an amazing story - a Republican staffer managed to steal documents from the Senate democrats, sent the stolen documents to Kavanaugh (subject line: spying). Kavanaugh was asked about this incident in his confirmation hearings in 2004 and again in 2006 - and both times denied that he had any knowledge whatsoever of it. However, emails have now turned up proving that he was, in fact, involved. So now his story is a very Trumpian "hey, everybody does it". But even if that were true, it's not consistent with his earlier testimony.

    And this isn't the only case where he lied under oath... and Republicans are about to give him a seat on the Supreme Court.
