It’s great that workers are seeing a little more in their paychecks but I hope like hell they’re putting it away for later. Because those tax cuts are temporary and it’s their generation who are going to have to pay for the fallout down the road. Unless they get rich in the meantime of course........
I've heard something different. I've heard that businesses are reinvesting their tax windfall in buying up company stock thereby sending the market higher and higher. The sad part is that our numerous trade wars and newly won enemies are beginning to stagnate the market.
The tax cuts will be made permanent as soon as the Dems stop obstructing the Congressional vote to do so.
Democrats are not only powerless to halt such a move but also would welcome making the cuts for lower and middle classes match the permanent cuts for the upper class. Maybe you could link to some sort of support for your assertion from a credible source. By credible, I mean one that's won some accolades for their journalism.
I think tariffs can be used by anyone if they want a more level playing field. The company I used to work for had joint ventures in Japan & China, neither would allow an American Company to own a business outright, had to be joint venture. However, we've allowed China & Japan to acquire all sorts of business, government building etc. outright. Im always been of the opinion if you treat people fairly you may be treated fairly, but there are always ones that get greedy and want it just their way. For me its all about fairness, balance & respectfulness.
Now is the time for Tariffs to work. China can not win because they can not do without our market. These tariffs are not about revenue. It is about bringing about free trade or we will make it no trade. Simple and about time.
China doesn't need us as much as you and Trump think they do. And they play the long game - Xi will be around long after Trump is gone. When prices go up due to the tariffs, no one here is going to be happy. barfo
I'm just going to use an example which was talked about on this site by alt-right conservatives on this site a few months ago. Solarworld was 'helped' by tarrifs placed on solar panels which were manufactured in other countries. However this tarrif raised the price of solar panel installation. This is the classic robbing from the poor, to give to the poor. While the rich get richer with the republican economics of the 'trickle down effect'. Tarrifs are fine, but if you're going to place a tarrif on something to help one American industry... Only for that tarrif to hurt another American industry.. Who is really(as alt-right conservatives like to put it) winning? It's not really fair, balanced, and respectful if you hurt one American industry, by helping another? While letting 1% of the 1% get tax breaks? Which is really the point I was trying to make.
...so you don't mind paying higher prices as a consumer for those tariffs?...how does that make things better?
