I said the Toyota but I gotta oils NOT get a new one for Uber. It’s a waste. Go for a 15/16, save a bunch and then trade it in once you are done with Uber so you get the new car once all the problematic people aren’t scumming it up. Have barf bags? A car vaccine, tons of whiles, freshness and more. But if someone vomits in your new ride how are you going to feel?
So, don't settle for a Camry. There are other Japanese options. A while back, I had an Infiniti Q70 as loaner from the dealership. It has the reliability Japanese cars are famous for, but definitely had the feel of a quality ride. It's not cheap, but neither is a new comparable BMW. Too much new, buy a used one that's two or three years old and let someone else take the initial depreciation hit. BNM
I haven't driven a Lexus recently, but all the Infinitis I've driven have been pretty nice. A few years back, the GF had a G35 Coupe with a 6-speed, dual Magnaflow exhaust and Brembo big brake kit on all four corners. It was a lot of fun to drive, but not a practical family car. With rear wheel drive, it also sucked in the snow, so she traded it in for an Infiniti SUV. More practical, but not nearly as sun. BNM
I don't think Nissans/Infinities are nearly as reliable as Honda/Toyota. Its like a tier below for me, much rather have a lexus or acura than an Infiniti. Drove one of the newer sedans the Q50s as my rental in Nashville a few months ago and I didn't think much of it. The controls weren't very intuitive.
I am going to concur with this assessment. I still get the hots for the old FX35 or FX45 Infiniti. Fun to drive cross-over thing that looks great. Almost bought one a couple of years ago as our long-distance family car, but ended up with a Lexus GX which was nicer (if not as pretty) and can go off-road. Still Infiniti makes some nice vehicles - and even if the Toyota/Honda offering are more reliable, they are still going to be easier to maintain than most German offering.
If you can't tell what the destination is, what strategy can you employ, other than your starting point for the day? Or is it a matter of repositioning yourself after you drop off a ride? Just curious as a frequent rider. barfo
You're going to be in the Pacific nw. Get a Subaru legacy or impreza. So much more fun than any Honda or toyota.
My son and girlfriend picked up a year old Subaru Forester and that sucker is very nice. My youngest daughter bought a new to her a Nissan Rogue and it's also extremely well equipped and very nice.
Fugly. Reminds me of those Hondas and Toyotas that came out several years ago that had the grey plastic cladding on them.
Yep. I just got a 2018 subaru forester for 0% interest well below msrp last month. Love it. It's great for hauling around baby stuff.
