"...I'm gonna stay wherever I'm wanted, man. Because that's all anybody ever wants," he says "To be appreciated." I think THAT means we ACTUALLY have a shot @ him. We'd DEFINITELY show him he's wanted/appreciated (I think every player in the league knows that IF they came here BUT he's only speaking for himself when it comes to that; others r ALL/only about the $) here PLUS the whole outdoors love he has thing I think IS big!
Giving up Simons and Trent is pretty steep for us, with no assurances that he'll stay. Obviously it's not as much as trading CJ, or OKC trading Oladipo, or Toronto trading DeRozan, but I think Simons and Trent have a lot of promise.
We only know that OKC gave up a good assets because of hindsight. Consensus was they got an underachieving SG as a PF with minimal upside.
I mean...... if OKC offered us (then) Oladipo/Sabonis for Turner/Aminu/Trent/Simons/Baldwin I would take it in a heartbeat. *I know this trade only exists in an alternate reality where OKC never traded Oladipo and Sabonis.
I'm game for almost anything that doesn't require us giving up CJ or Collins. (Actually I am ok with giving up CJ, but I don't think they want his contract.) I wish Dame could reach out and determine if he and Butler can get along.
Do not trade CJ in this scenario. Try to keep Dame, CJ, Nurk, Collins if at all possible. There should be a package including picks that will get it done with the other guys in this scenario. This is the opportunity we've been waiting for. Correction: Try not to trade CJ. I would still do the deal if we had to include CJ, but I'd really try not to.
So your saying that was the same problem in Chicago. I forgot what it was but I know it wasn't defense. But yes if he want's to leave due to winning or players not dedicating there self on work ethics then why in the hell does he wants to be traded to the Knicks Nets Clippers.
I think they would jump on CJ because he's a star player. They NEED better players. They gave up some really decent players for Butler. They need a win. The question is whether Butler would re-sign here.
He doesn't specifically mention defense, but he talks a lot about lack of effort and wanting to win: Keep in mind his comments were made after the Bulls blew a 10 point lead in the last minute and gave up 19 points in the final 3 minutes. So, one could infer that his comments about not caring and lack of effort applied to the defensive end. Also, listen to his comments about the type of players he wants to play with, starting at 1:18. Sounds to me like he's describing Damian Lillard. BNM
Butler and Thibs I bet have agreed to allow the Wolves to disclose the three teams, but in reality there are more in play for the Wolves to maximize assets in agreement to trade him soon.
You don’t give up cj for him even though he’s an upgrade. He has made it clear once he’s a free agent he’s going to New York.
And Paul George made it clear he was going to LA. Things change. We aren't going to sign big name free agents, so sometimes you have to roll the dice.
We probably are going to have to trade CJ at some point. But I'd still like to enjoy him and Dame together a bit longer before we hit the "fuck it" button. We aren't going anywhere but neither is anybody else with GS on top.
Can we trade 4 future 1sts? 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025? Along with Turner? I know it's 6 or 7 years of picks you can trade. Does MIN look at that? That'd be a tough trade to turn down IMO.
You can't go consecutive years without future 1sts and you can only trade future 1sts up to a certain year (Currently, it's either 2024 or 2025)
