Meyers having a personal clothing line is just so Meyers. I'm not even a Meyers hater (more of a Meyers agnostic), but seriously who is his target market? I can't see anyone paying a premium price for Meyers Leonard branded apparel. It just feels like he's finally admitted the basketball thing was just a side gig and his true calling is, and has always been, male model. I didn't intend for that to sound mean, but it still does. I actually hope he can make some positive contributions this year - build on his MINOR success from last year. Anything we get out of him will be an unexpected bonus. A (relativity) successful campaign also increases his trade value from negative to neutral as an expiring contact going into next summer. That sounded mean, too. Not true at all. His per was essentially 16 and 10 last year. Way better. the year before he was injured and the two year before that he was sitting around 14 and 9-10. Last year he played well for the minutes he played. Some just don't want to see it or admit it. And then there are those that will say "But for 10 million".... I actually really appreciated Meyers' media day appearance. Seemed very business-like. Focused. No nonsense. "I want to earn the coaching staff's trust by displaying consistency, being aggressive, and doing what I can to help the team win." That's all I want from him too.
I just want Meyers to play well enough for ONE team to think he's good and want him in a trade. Is that too much to ask?
