Hmmm, I don't recall you wanting Mitchell on O-Live at the draft. If only we could still look at the archives! I'm not saying you for sure didn't but I thought I was the only one on there saying we should've taken Mitchell when we traded up. I think a couple people were hoping Mitchell fell to 15 or 20 but he shot up the draft board the last couple weeks.

I think 42 wins was what I had too. But I don't think that will be good enough for the playoffs. We aren't going anywhere.

I love how the Raptors shot twice as many FT's as Portland did. Yeah, that doesn't sound a little fishy.

Serious question: Why does it matter how the guy shoots free throws? Isn't it better to shoot them underhanded instead of being completely awful?

You may be right. I just don't think they are much improved and i don't see getting in the playoffs at this point as a great thing for this team.

Not really at all. Toronto has a much more developed roster of players that have more experience. The Blazers/Stotts played a much younger rotation and Stotts was not playing to win. He was tinkering. Fouls happen.

So you are basically admitting that you have no answer other than it looks silly? Was it stupid when Rick Barry did it?

That was not Rick Barry and this is not the 60's. Even Barry figured out that was the wrong way to shoot free throws.
There is no reason to have this conversation. You already know that every great free throw shooter in the last 50 years shoots overhand. So why are you even arguing this? Maybe go back to contracts. You are very astute when it comes to the CBA.

I remember Mitchell and Bell as the guys I wanted from the Draft. Though I thought they’d be available at 15-20. When they shot up to 10 and used that on Collins I wasnt super excited about it. You were by far the guy there highest on Mitchell. I just have never thought much of Zach there were a few (not just Mitchell) players I wouldve rather had.

I always wonder then.......when? What's the proper time for the 10th pick in a loaded draft to be judged?

Its not about being a great free throw shooter its about being awful at the over hand version so trying the underhanded thing. Considering how many bigs are craptastic ft shooters I think more of them should go to that if it makes their percentage respectable.

What are you even talking about? Rick Barry is the one who shot underhanded and to this day STILL thinks that every bad free throw shooter should be doing it. His son just two years ago did it at Florida and he was dang good at it (88.3%).

Just because there are idiots out there that think it looks stupid and are too cool to do it doesn't mean that it isn't an effective way to shoot free throws.
