Once again, I don't think you can look at trades in sections like that especially when if you put 1 and 2 together it is a brutally awful trade for Minnesota. Splitting it up looks good for us but not them. They have the star player available for trade so they can set the parameters here. I gave a couple of suggestions (and so have others) as to how they could possibly get a little of all 4 things they want.

Edit: If you want, give me another team that would possibly be interested in Butler and I'll try to show you an example of what I mean.

Position to me is a bad way to make decisions. The kid can play 4 or 5 it doesn’t really matter where you put him, what matters is he just isn’t very good. Our young guys either look like busts or are unknowns, our vets are just bad and our pick (after we add butler) will be at best in the 20-25 range. Which is why this trade with minny seems so unlikely.

So they apparently offered Butler for Middleton. Why did Bucks turn that down?

Maybe, but they have several bad contracts already that may prevent them from signing either.

Who knows what it’s going to cost? If Middleton costs then $25million or more a year then they would be better off without him long term.

I still think Portland has a chance:
Ethan J. Skolnick: “So I don’t think there’s a market for Jimmy Butler right now because the teams that I thought could get really involved here—Philadelphia, I’ve heard they haven’t put Dario Saric on the table, they haven’t put Markelle Fultz on the table. You’re not making a deal without putting those two guys on the table. … The Clippers, I’ve heard, have not put Tobias Harris on the table, and I don’t know what else they’re front-lining a deal with. I’ve heard all along [the Clippers/Butler stuff] is overstated.”

What’s our best offer short of including CJ?

This is the best I could come up with.

Plus our pick next year to Minnesota, lottery protected. We could even throw in Biggie.

Sacramento has been interested in Harkless.

Minnesota is able to dump Dieng while picking up Simons and a first. Turner is a Thibs guy who’ll turn into an expiring after this season.

It’d pretty much be Dieng for Turner, and Butler for Simons and a first.

Dieng for Turner works for Minnesota because Thibs doesn’t really like Dieng, while Turner is his guy and is also owed less money.

Not sure Simons and a lottery protected first is enough for Butler though.

Am I wrong or Jimmy didn't like it in Chicago cos their coach wanted to depend on 3pointers too much? Stotts wants his team to hit even more 3s than last year. Butler wouldnt stay here for long.

It's December 15th for most free agents, and I think January 15th for restricted free agents kept. There are some new rules like when a player signs a super max he can't be traded for a year. Extensions have a longer period too.
