Probably for the best. Michael doesn't sound like as violent a storm as Matthew. It'll probably just fade out and dance around a bit, although it might still sweep a few unsupervised kids off to neverland. barfo
Given a choice between living in Alabama or facing a hurricane...I'd probably ask for a third option.
He probably should... were talking about a storm as strong as hurricane Ivan, maybe stronger, making landfall in Panama City...
People don't realize how strong this thing is getting because it came out of nowhere to everyone except hurricane enthusiasts... Right now out looks like it'll be the strongest continental US hurricane landfall since Charlie in 2004 and Andrew in 1992.
I really wish my sister would get her family out. So far they still plan on riding it out. I'm worried for them.
They needed to get out... Might be too late now. We're talking about a 13ft of storm surge. I put this up before it was even a Tropical Depression so that others could notify relatives so they had time to evacuate. Does she have a two story house? If not, her entire house could be underwater...
They are about 25 ft above sea level. I have been trying to convince them to leave, and they told me that if it becomes a Cat 4 then they would in the morning. They still have time though, and the traffic isn't bad and have several places to go that are either inland or much farther north. I don't like them risking it though.
@theprunetang They should take pictures of the outside and inside of their house for insurance purposes. If the haven't, they should do so first thing tomorrow to be safe..
