I believe this was a reference to MIN trying to low ball him when they eagerly gave Wiggins and KAT max extensions. I think this is the root of this whole shit show in MIN. Butler saw the two young guys who don't play defense and don't really seem to be committed to winning get paid when MIN wasn't willing to make that same level of financial commitment to him. He's basically telling Layman, you need me to be competitive, you shouldn't have tried to low ball me. BNM
Just think about the following scenario: *Neil trades Dame's best friend on the team for Butler* -Butler to Dame: "HELLO LILLARD, I'M JIMMY BUTLER! I'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO WIN, THIS IS MY TEAM NOW,YOU CAN'T WIN WITHOUT ME, CUZ I'M A WINNER! I'M JIMMY BUTLER! *turns around* HEY YOU, THE GUY WITH THE FUNNY ACCENT, WHY YOU SO SLOW ON FAST BREAKS? SO WHAT IF YOU'RE 7 FOOT TALL?! MOVE YOUR ASS!! I'M JIMMY BUTLER!" Dame: "The fuck just happened this week?!"
Come back to me when Jimmy gets out of the second round.Do whatever the fuck you want when you're the GOAT. When you're an oft injured 30 yr old bully who hasn't won shit, you don't get to pull these stunts. It's just funny Jimmy thinks of himself as a winner. WTF does he know about winning?
He just comes off as needy, saying : "It's about saying we need you. We want you here, we can't do this without you.....it made me think like maybe I'm not important to your organization." Comparing this guy to MJ? GTFO.
Hell, if arguably one of the best players to *ever* play is available, you trade for him. Alas, Jimmy is not one of the best player to ever play.
After reading the entire interview he did last night; I get the impression that he might still be staying with them. He talks about thinking that Thibs is happy as hell afterwards cuz Jimmy is back. And he talks a lot about being wanted, and for him the way to show that is more money. I don't even know if they can do this, but if Minnesota can still jettison Dieng and offer Butler a big new contract right now, I think he takes it.
But also, if Minnesota doesn't do that; I think that if Portland traded for him; gave up good assets for him; let him know they were going to pay the max no matter how much it hurt them financially, made him feel wanted by teammates and team personnel, that he would stay in Portland.
Right, I guess for me the risk isn't that he won't stay, but the risk is how much the finances to keep him would fetter Portland for a longtime.
Let's say that Minnesota decides to pay him enough so that he wanted to stay. This is a little crazy, but what if we traded them Turner, Leonard, Harkless and Aminu for Wiggins, Dieng and Patton? This would save them $100 million in the next five years and gets rid of one overpaid guy Butler doesn't really love. I think it might make them a better team also. What would it do for us though?
The question isn't whether Butler will help or not, but rather what will it cost. No way do I trade CJ for him but not sure if we have the assets that would be better than what other teams might offer.
Its great having a 4 year old girl, a 2 year old girl, and a one year old girl. Every day I get to see the minnesota timberwolves at home...
Depends on your opinion of Wiggins. I personally think there’s another level to his game, and he’d fit in Portland. But it’s also not my money and he’s owed a lot of it.
Or, let's simplify this: Turner, Leonard and Harkless for Wiggins and Dieng. Saves them $94 million over five years.
It probably saves them more, I just multiplied the years times the salaries, but I'm guessing they go up each year.
The whole thing was orchestrated by Butler & Thibs..a little Chicago shock value. I bet he plays the for them starting the season and his trade value will go way up!
