Great post, but you lost me at "date with my wife" She's already yours bro, what's with the dates. You're making us look bad.
Based off what? Their careers or preseason? If it’s preseason, Portland’s DRTG with Stauskas on the court has been 94. Hardly the liability you’re painting him to be. Has he gotten beat? Sure, but he’s also had guys make tough contested shots over him. He’s also made plays. And if it’s career, the numbers are fairly comparable, as in neither is a good defender. So who’s being biased?
Career wise, Curry is slightly better. I can provide stats if you really want them. This preseason, he's been much, much better. Based off what? Based off the fact that I've paid attention to it... We've played the Kings, Suns twice, and the Jazz... hardly teams that light it up. But you're gonna take the teams performance and make a mistake in extrapolating it to Stauskas overall defense.
Nah, I don’t care about Niks defense, just like I don’t care about Curry’s. That’s not why either one was signed. But if you’re going to microanalyze Nik, keep that same energy about the others as well. I guarantee if I went back in the game threads I would find a comment about every bucket that was scored on Nik, while Curry’s mistakes were ignored. It’s too predictable.
2 doesn't sound like much, but Davis was 5th-highest on the team in 2-pointers made. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2018.html#per_game::12
The question was, how many easy buckets did he score. So I confined it to 2-pointers, not overall including 3s. To make it even more specific... If you scroll down to the Shooting section of that page, you see that Davis led the team in FG% for 0-3 feet, and 3-10 feet. To find the actual quantity of FGM by range, you'd have to go to 82games.com.
1) Actually it was the opposite. Stauskas thrived when T.J. McConnell was the PG. As soon as Ben Simmons arrived, Stauskas withered on the vine, so they traded him. The 76ers outgrew him. Their winning record was 38-126 in the 2 years he played a lot. 2) While Stauskas isn't similar to Connaughton now, Stotts may make him into another Connaughton. Same for Curry vs. Napier. The new guys may be better upon arrival, but Stotts may dumb them down into the same roles as their predecessors.
The difference is that Connaughton couldn't create for himself, and Shabazz wasn't a reliable enough shooter.
I agree that the new guys do those things better now, but let's see whether they do after a season of fitting into Stotts' system. By then it might be same-o, same-o.
1. Meyers might actually make it as a third center, but Collins is going to have to play behind Nurk, leaving IDK as backup at PF. 2. Layman should be able to get 18-20 minutes a night with around 10 points and a couple of threes. Which is good because who the fuck knows if Moe will ever be available. 3. Stauskus is a decent scorer and should be able to give us an approximation of what Pat did, if not the shooting Crabbe did. 4. Drafting Biggie was a huge mistake. 5. If Baldwin gets more than 6 minutes a game it will be luck. 6. Seth Curry IS the backup PG, but is going to have to up his assist rate. 7. Our best defensive lineup is Nurk at C and Collins at PF. I am sure there is a lot more but I can't think of them right now.
