She's the one who doesn't understand the question, having led a sheltered life among a homogenized higher-education elite community where personal responsibility is seldom mentioned and never demanded. I would not stand, because I would never want my actions and behavior to be excused by society just because I was a supposed oppressed minority. It is the current vehicle used by "intellectual elites" to keep racism alive.
Hollywood? Seriously? That was your educational system? There's nothing Regular OR American about Hollywood. I had parents and other close relatives who taught me personal responsibility and the importance of defending the oppressed and bullied wherever I found them, but more importantly they taught me to think for myself and to investigate and educate myself. I've had a couple teachers who taught me the basics of recognizing propaganda and misinformation, and how to discern the motives behind it. Never in my life have I embraced "American Discourse" (Hollywood, Fake News) as an educational tool.
So you just glossed over that whole I first experienced overt racism as a 6 year old part.... Of course you did...

Who the F is “proud to be white”? Maybe you’re proud to be German or Italian or Dutch (me), but white? Shouldn’t pride be about your accomplishments or your heritage and the country you came from? Now...if you think about it, and what black people have been through and STILL go through they have reason to be proud of being black. Maybe I’m wrong but it makes sense to me. Proud to be white? Why? What did white people have to overcome because of their whiteness?
Because organized religion is evil. This is the part that I don't understand about you D.... you talk about white imperialism and such, but the Bible and Catholicism was the most prolific weapon of that imperialism. The Spanish murdered millions of natives in the Americas and it was all under the Christian banner. Religion has always been used to control the population. Egypt, Greece, Rome, England, etc etc etc. Religion = bad. I believe that there's something out there. I'm spiritual to a point, but I refuse to believe that there's an all-powerful being that is pulling our puppet strings. And I refuse to believe anything that comes from a bunch of old white dudes who want my money and my support.
There's a reason universities accept people from a diverse group. They feel that creativity is enhanced by a diverse population with diverse views and backgrounds. This is actually very logical.
