I'm not opposed to reticent plans at all, in fact I have a company paid one from the mid western company I worked with for years.
I just think Pers could still be reformed some especially at the high end. I would think liberals would like to see the rich cover more off their retirement cost?

Those can not be capped. It's too late. They would sue and win. Current high earners have been capped so that can not happen in the future.

Why would anyone want to spend more than is reasonably necessary? It doesn't make any logical sense.

I know. We just got a letter from Pers saying they will be paying us some back retroactive in pay, because of the law suit. A few years worth.

So you don't think we should keep your wife's pension afloat?

Personally I think we should raise the tax on wine, beer, hard liquor, and cigarettes to the same 25% tax rate as marijuana. I believe all "sins" should be taxed equally.

    hell yes I do. lol
Even after 40 years of teaching her pension is a small fraction of some, that were on the job a short time.
Its a shame that school and district are really hurting because they have to pay more for pers, t o carry the small percentage the fat cats, at the top. But I guess since its Government Union Pension it s ok, but god forbid a small business trying to prosper and pay less taxes.

PERS payout is based on what was paid in. Complaining that her payout isn't the same as Belloti's is a bit odd.

It's the state legislators that kept kicking the PERS can down the road.

It's gotten to the point to where we have to make some very tough decisions.

Are we going to continue to pay police, fire, judges and elected officials a much higher PERS rate than we do other public employees and teachers?

Are we going to fund PERS to meet their contracted obligations or just fuck over the people currently paying into it?

I have seen nothing offered by either KB that truly addresses fixing PERS.

If we eliminate all the Tier 1s and 2s PERS is self-sustaining.

For the last 10 years I have run the Multnomah Village Post Office for the Oregon Food Bank's Stamp Out Hunger food drive. It's the largest 1 day food drive in the nation. I oversee about 20 volunteers for about 8 hours where they take the food collected by the letter carriers and box it up to send back to the Oregon Food Bank. For the last 8 years the majority of volunteers have been from the Tigard office of PERS. There can be a bit of down time between the waves of food being brought in by the letter carriers so naturally I talk to them about PERS. It's an interesting conversation. I invite you to volunteer next year, it's always the Saturday before Mother's Day. You'll help the community and you'll have a chance to ask some very high up people PERS what the hell is going on.

    Dog,
I not complaining that my wife is not as big a check as their at all. Just that I think it if it wasn't so burden down with the mega payouts it could have been more sustainable. Im not in favor of taking it it away from middle income, recipients.

Knute Bueler most CERTAINLY is for The Republican plan of block granting Medicaid.

This will end in children being cut from the rolls.

And YES the republicans want to cut PERS.

Continue to vote against your own self interests the way most conservatives do...

First, learn to quote then post.

Second, You like to say what liberals want But haven't had ANY meaningful conversations about it. I don't want mine or your taxes raised. AND, I'm independent....

Stop listening to the republicans that are lying to you and talk to the actual people.
