Sack up and answer. There's no in-between, but I cherish the rationales I think will be in the comments.
As the gentleman says, he's exercising his constitutional right to bear arms. Now, the ACLU says that they won't represent hate groups who are armed as they protest, but I generally think the ACLU is messed up anyway. That said, it's the exact equivalent of the KKK marching with rifles in full white gowns and caps, holding a sign saying "better not vote for Obama", as the New Black Panther Party has been disavowed by the old Black Panther party and rated as a "Hate Group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center, who a) describes those as "attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics") and extremists, and b) kinda knows what they're talking about.
1. If the dems want Black Panthers campaigning for them then great! I don't like racists in the repub party but I don't really care about who the dems have campaigning for them. 2. I would like to see a bit more of a legitimate source than Erik Barath's facebook page. Does Erik live in Georgia? Is this something he was witnessed personally? Is he a friend of yours, Brian? 3. And since we know that Soros is paying the racists to be part of the repub party I'm sure we can safely assume that the Koch brothers are paying these fine gentlemen, How am I doing so far?
To be honest, I don't have a problem with them toting guns and campaigning for who they want as long as they are not provoking violence with any kind of racist rants. Im all for right to carry and free speech, but not provoking violence. I know there is a thin line with the free speech aspect and that's fine, but there is a line.
This is what need's to be done in the Chicago gun violence area's. Bring Black Panthers and let them clean the gangs up, one way or another.
Wait, why does it matter which racists are campaigning for who? No, it's a repost. But I don't know how much more of a legitimate source you want to see than actual video. I mean, are you waiting for this to be on MSNBC? I didn't see the Soros paying R's.
I fully support their 1A and 2A rights, but am puzzled why they are encouraging people to vote for a candidate who is adamantly opposed to both.
There is nothing in either the 1st or 2nd amendments that sets out different rights for different races. I would be happier in *nobody* was engaed in this sort of behavior , but as long as it is legal for some it needs to be legal for all. Ergo I will hold my nose and vote yes. Edit: not to nit-pick, but it would help if you would clarify if you are refering just to this group/situation, or to the practice in general.
Practice in general. I couldn't care less if they're black and part of the New Black Panthers wearing their uniforms. But that also means you have to be cool with the Tiki Torch Mafia joining up with the pointy white hats and being able to carry their AKs up and down the streets decrying those voting for Abrams (or for her opponent, I don't know his name off the top).
Like I said in your other thread, I don't care which "bad people" campaign for dems because I'm not a dem. Just like I don't care if the Lakers decide to have nothing but pedophiles on the team. I actually expect them to, they're the Lakers. But if the Lakers have pedophiles on the team that doesn't mean it's okay for the Blazers to have rapists on their team. My whole point, and one I think even you are falling victim to, is lowering our standards to what we perceive the other side has lowered theirs to. Dems have antifa so hey, let's not care that white supremacists have suddenly become very comfortable publicly supporting republicans. While I've only met you once or twice, I think I can make the safe assumption that if you were running for.... let's say... dog catcher and the local KKK group came out in public endorsement of you, you would very quickly tell them to shove that endorsement up their fucking asses. That doesn't seem to be happening enough with many republican candidates including Trump. For me that's a problem. Fuck those racist fucks.
I think there's a difference (highlighted here) between what they're allowed to do, and what I condone. (Edit: Said better below) No, my point with these is that, while it's superficial and easy to say things like "racist!" "White privilege!" "Wise Latinas!" etc....I'd rather us get back to American principles. I'll even go with "American principles post-MLK/Civil Rights Act" so that we can wipe away the southern racist stuff. Where your color or sex doesn't matter, but your character does. Don Lemon's not ridiculous because he's black or gay or used to speak with a Cajun accent. He's ridiculous because he's a horrible journalist, he's totally tone-deaf to sexual assault survivors and he hides behind his protected status to shrug off criticism. Doesn't mean he should be in jail or booed out of restaurants. Does mean he could be fired for cause. Gotcha, and you're right, and you're right. Except I would probably say something like "See? Even half-literate racist clowns agree that we need fiscal conservatism, limited government and personal responsibility!"
I've seen some videos over the last few years that have been of staged incidents. If Fox News says this is verified and real then I will accept it. Because if they are wrong, they will eventually say it. If Eric is wrong and that is proven to be "fake news" he will either not say anything or just delete it. Also since I don't follow Erik I won't know if it has been proven wrong or deleted.
Fair enough. It's a repost from a site that I follow that has some pretty reliable people on it. Instead of posting the friend page, I just went to the source video. I don't know the original poster.
My very first thought was that their intent was to intimidate, but that’s just me. I’m intimidated by anyone of any race, color or gender walking down the street fully (and conspicuously) armed. I do not understand the reasoning....or the need for it. My second thought is that, in this currently crazy and out of control world, black guys walking down a street with guns in their arms are either very brave or very stupid. The jury is still out......
It's menacing, however legal it might be. Even if legal, were I the candidate they were supporting, I would condemn it. It's certainly not the image I'd want portrayed.
I can see how its menacing. I wouldn't want to see anyone non police/military walking down the street with assault rifles. But, it is within their rights. I don't agree with the message, but I am not against people practicing their right to bare arms as long as they aren't being violent.
