It's not like they are actively worse than the latest generation of Talking Ball, and putting Chad on TV would be a punishment to everyone. Only person vaguely affiliated with the broadcast crew I'd be interested in doing expanded commentary is Holton (Just keep him away from the typical broadcaster duties).
So, I went back and watched parts of some episodes of Blazers outsiders, because honestly havent paid much attention to them and Ive heard lots of complaining. Heres my take, they seem awkward, like they dont really talk much outside of the show, they dont have a good natural conversation. They dont blow me away with “analysis”, but to be fair its about on par for most of the local media’s analysis. Sometimes with a low tv budget show like this, you get what you pay for. The hosts while not the worst Ive heard dont seem to be good enough to take the show over the top. I dont want to be all negative so I’ll say this, I think if they had someone organizing the show it would go a long ways at least until their banter gets better. I dont think they need it to be scripted, just someone to say ok, talk about this for a couple minutes, move on to that, etc. The audience for this show will be the more fanatic fans, and right now it looks and sounds like a show for more casual ones.
I'd probably agree with you more if this was a new show but they've been working together for a year now. I think the Facebook Live thing is really killing the show as while one is talking (usually Dan) the other two are just staring down at their laptops reading Facebook comments and then don't really pay attention well enough to what the other is saying. It's also kind of weird how they seem like they don't really want to be there and from my view it almost seems like they'd rather just be sarcastic and make fun of things then provide any real insight. I'd still like to see it as more of a "studio" type show like Talking Ball. That might make it less awkward.
Their commercials are like explosive diarrhea. It's inevitably coming and once it's done you're glad and hope to never experience it again.
To add insult to injury, Abby Chin shows up to remind us of a real Blazer post-game show that was quality.
I figured out what is bugging me so much about this show. The chairs are way too low to the ground. The Joe guy in the middle looks like he's on his knees. They all need to be higher up. I know this has no bearing on the content but the awkwardness of the arrangement makes it painful to watch.
Dan needs to lose the backwards snap back cap (it's call a snap BACK for a reason). With a melon like his, it's not a good look. Just further adds to the awkwardness of the show - guys trying to be cooler than they are. BNM
The show sucks balls, the movies I made in college for my film classes had better acting and production quality and I was fucked up in all of them. No hard feelings Dan. Maybe a couple of the Blazer cheerleaders off to the side or something to look at would make it watchable??
Thanks! I think he's the leader in the middle, the one with the pink sweaty happy smile because he had a few before the show. Whoever chose the cast tried to emulate Portlandia. The show needs a jokewriter to prepare them in advance. Or to avoid paying one, they could repeat a standing joke over and over all season long, like bemoaning the loss of Ed Davis. Saves a lot of scriptwriting when you use the same stellar material all season.
If ever I were to forget to change the channel after the game or turn the TV off, their promos ingrain into my brain that never happens.
