So @The Professional Fan was saying something factual and not just an opinion. You were against me being a mod from the beginning. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

    Fair enough

Marzy used racist language, I called him out on it. I will not apologize for that. I will call it out again.

That you missed it when I posted my vote earlier and didn't catch that my meme was for the "he's one of the most level headed" part makes me wonder how much of the actual posts you are reading?

Kinda skimming them like grading papers?

Trump certainly has something to do with it. Prior to him I would just browse the OT political stuff and try my best to stay as an independent, taking on information from both sides and digesting accordingly.

That has all changed with Trump and I know I'm not alone. Those of you that had already picked a "side" prior to Trump may have been divided. Us independents were not. Now I am.

And when I say "browse" I literally mean it. I almost NEVER participated. Just read what others say. Yeah that has changed quite a bit.

He has said some questionable things in heated response to racist language levied against him in the OT, many times to bait him that I don't agree with. Contrary to your believe, I don't agree with everything he or anyone says. It sucks that he allows himself to get riled up by posters who whether out of bordem or hate, mess with him. I understand that he has experienced racism on levels we could never comprehend. He shouldn't battle racism with racism, but my understanding is that is coming from a place of anger, a taste of your own medicine type deal, not the best reaction, maybe rightfully so, as he is being targeted by several posters on here. I know Dviss outside the board. He is good man. He isn't racist. He will continue to call it out, hopefully with a better choice of language. I know I will keep calling it out too.

Deflecting again so you can further attack my character? Nice. I missed your vote recap, but I saw you used the meme from my signature, which I put there as a funny reminder to myself to try and not take things so seriously. A work in progress, but hey I am human. I read pretty much everything on the forum. And, I teach preschool, I don't grade papers. The joke is on you.

But are they targeting him because of his RACE? Or are they targeting him in response to his outrageous emotional outbursts?

I love Dviss like a brother, because we've connected on this forum outside of political topics, such as in game threads and the like. I hope we meet one day in peace to watch a Blazer game and chat.

We'll likely never agree on much of anything....I don't appreciate some of the things he's said about the Flag, the police, guns/gun owners, and I also can't stop being White, and I'm not going to stop voting Republican, nor am I going to forfeit my views or opinions to appease anyone. BUT that doesn't mean I can't treat him with respect and listen, IF he chooses to talk about his grievances.

But....he is SO goddamn emotional on this forum!!! It turns a LOT of people off. The dude blows up over the tiniest things! And he DOES, at times, accuse people of being racist when they aren't, or he'll approach something from a racial standpoint to gain some sort of moral high ground when it's either not necessary or called for. And despite what you think, calling him out for that behavior is NOT racist.

From what I hear, he even got into a yelling argument with the referee this summer at the 3 on 3 game. For fuck's sake!

He's extremely emotional. To an extent, I can appreciate that. It certainly makes for a great sports fan, and I'd rather he was on our side than another team's fanbase. But dammit, he's very reactionary, and he needs to chill.

I will say this: in the 4 years I've been here, he HAS gotten better about it. At least, as far as I've noticed. Mind you, I don't frequent the OT much anymore. But he's still very emotional and reactionary at times, and it turns a lot of people sour, instead of wanting to get to know him or talk to him.

And I for one find that incredibly sad and frustrating.

Let people post what they want.

Just without the insults and drama.

Personally I would like if you shared some of your gun collection in a thread.

I have seen him targeted for both.

He has those outbursts because people are attacking him, saying some pretty terrible things to bait him. Maybe if certain posters found better things to do, then there would be less of his explosive outbursts.

I think he has gotten better to at handling his emotions. One thing I like about him though is that he speaks up.

I appreciate that, but I'm usually too lazy to take pictures, and it's only, currently, 6 firearms, with nothing terribly impressive besides a lever-action .454 Casull, and maybe my WASR AK-47. My handguns are generic: a Glock and a Ruger revolver. And then there's a .22 Marlin (which is now an "Assault Rifle" thanks to I-1639...), and a 12 ga Winchester that I've never shot.

    Not that impressive.

Now my buddy who gave me the .454 Casull Carbine had over 70 firearms in 3 safes. THAT was a nice collection!

I don't mind if he speaks up, as long as it's factual. Approaching people as if they have a racial vendetta against him because they're white isn't factual, it's offensive. And grossly so.

However, yes, I agree with you that a few people bait him.

There's one maxim my father taught me that I think should share (at least here in the OT forum). And there are two ways of looking at it.

You respect others and others will show you respect.
You behave like an ass and you will be treated like an ass.

I laughed my ass off when he told me that, but it's pretty much true whether it's on the forum or face-to-face. How you treat others goes a long way when communicating with them.

True. And we all go low at times.

    But why can't you either

    A. Ignore it and move on with your life.

    Or

    B. Continue being a nice person and not allow yourself to falter.

I've been struggling with this thought lately. I have a daughter who has disabilities.

When people stare in public, and she is old enough to know what my actions mean, would me exploding on someone in front of her show her that behavior is ok? To be a dick back to people? Or is moving on with your life and trying not to let stupid people bother you the better course of action.

Yes, but he put it into perspective for a young, sarcastic, punk ass kid at the time and I appreciated that.

Here's the thing, Cippy. It's something I think you're completely missing in this whole entire thing. And please, follow carefully.

What you just posted is blanket statements. "White people for all the problems" "Everybody is racist" "If you are a gun owner".

Our policy is that it has to be about the PERSON on the forum. If editing/deleting blanket statements were the case, I'd of deleted about 75% of Marazul's and Maris' posts. Making blanket statements doesn't have anything to do with a singular person on this board. It's an opinion they have on a category of people. If they talk about how they hate that person directly, theres the issue.

People have ripped into things I believe in and rights and all of that, but I keep them up because it's not about me personally, even if I personally believe it. It's their opinion. So if you're wanting a mod to delete things and create a place of suppression, then we're the wrong mods for you. Opinions and personal insults are completely different.

I personally don't care for blanket statements, as has been evidenced. That said, based on the rules of THIS FORUM (not societal understandings) its not a -personal- insult.
