Yeah. This thread started a while back before the season started and he worked his way into the line up. Seems like people are warming up to him a bit now.
Pretty much breaking a sweat compared to having a towel around your neck on the bench..I think with Pat Connaughton gone he'll see a real uptick in stats this season and I predict they'll eclipse Pat C's by playoff time.
Layman is going to pull a Pat Connaughton. He'll receive spot minutes and then go feature more on a team that actually wants him.
He put up some decent stats for us (+/- esp.) in limited minutes. Since it also took Pat forever to show what he could do, I am not going to discount Jake either.
Here’s what should happen next. Pretend they acquired Porter, Oubre, or any other apparent “missing piece” wing, and give whatever role/ looks they would’ve given them to Layman. I don’t care if it costs Portland games. We have to find out what we have in Layman. If that means CJ takes a backseat for a couple games, so be it. It has to be done.
I agree. You got to figure out if he is going to make an impact in the league and do it before the end of this season. Why wait? It can't cost them more games than starting Harkless did?
Wouldn’t necessarily have to bench Harkless either. Just bench Curry. My fear is that nothing would change even if they acquired a wing. The only thing that would change is the name of the guy standing in the corner. Stotts needs to stop leaning on his guards and start being an actual head coach, because anyone can draw up the plays he's been drawing up the past two, three, whatever years. Offense should run through Dame and Nurk, similar to Curry and Draymond (before KD) with CJ in the Klay role.
